Standing here I really can't get over the fact that the people my mother wanted to introduce me to are characters from another vampire-centered manga.
It begs the question. If the goddess added characters from both Owari no Seraph and Vanitas no Carte to DxD, then could other characters from other anime and manga series exist in this reality as well?
I need to look into that later. But right now I have other things to worry about, namely about the three people in front of me.
From what I remember about them from the Vanitas anime and manga, they could spell my doom.
First there is Ruthven.
In the series he seemed like the diligent leader, but in reality he might have been the biggest villain of all, since he was shown working with the major antagonist of the whole series. Since I died before the manga ended I don't know the whole story, regardless if he is anything like his Vanitas counterpart I need to be extremely wary of him.
Next up we have Veronica, who in a word might be bat-shit crazy.
Her character in the Vanitas series was that a man-hater with sadistic tendencies who got off torturing others, and was also a staunch bigot against humans. Which I find a bit strange, since the series and the wiki also showcased Veronica was quite lose, sleeping with high-ranking vampire males left and right. She was such a contradictory character I couldn't ever get a clear read on her.
Suffice it to say, since I can't avoid her gaze now, I need to do everything I can to stay on her good side.
I don't want to die prematurely if she is insane after all.
Finally we have Veronica's younger sister, Dominque.
Who is actually quite benign compared to the other two, but still she comes with her own set of issues.
Her brother was killed, and she was seen as a failure by her entire family, most specifically Veronica who bullied her and put her down any chance she got. This caused Dominque to develop a bit of a self-hating complex. Which is why she tried to become her brother Louis, but that's not really what she wanted. She just wanted to be herself, however her family wasn't the type of place where it could happen so easily.
Once again, I really hope these three are nothing like their Vanitas counterparts. Otherwise I'm in for a rough ride over these next few years.
"Kufa, what are you doing just standing there?" My mother called out to me.
"Sorry mother, I just had something on my mind and couldn't stop thinking about it." I smoothly lied.
Since I don't express emotions on my face much it makes it harder for people to tell when I'm lying. This was the case in my last life as well, and it's one trait I'm glad transferred over to this new life.
After all, being able to lie smoothly in the supernatural world may very well be the difference between life and death.
Getting out of my head for now I walked over to my mother and the other three, and then slightly bowed. "Greetings to you all, my name is Kufa Vampir, and it is a pleasure to make your acquittance." I told them, coming up from the bow as I did.
"A pleasure to meet you as well young master Kufa." Ruthven spoke to me. "I am Duke August Ruthven. A second progenitor, and your mother's top advisor. How nice it is to finally meet you face-to-face." He told me.
'They even have the same names.' I thought. If they just had the same face it would be one thing, but since the names are the same I can't even hope to deny these characters are not the same ones from Vanitas.
Goodbye denial, you were sweat while you lasted.
"You as well Lord Ruthven." I told them. I then turned to Veronica and Dominque. "Ah where are my manners, I should have asked the names of you lovely ladies first. Please forgive me?"
At my words Dominque got a light blush on her face. Meanwhile Veronica smirked.
My mother sighed, while Ruthven put a smile on his face.
"It looks like your son is quite the charmer, Krul." Ruthven said.
Since he's using my mother's name so casually it really speaks to their friendship. Because I can count on my hands the number of people who can use my mother's first name and not instantly get killed by her.
"Yes, it would seem so." My mother mused. "Though I have no idea where he gets it from."
"Come now Krul no need to be modest. You charmed quite a number of people back in the day." Ruthven spoke.
I put a wry smile on my face at his words.
While I have no problem with my mother doing her thing, she is a legal loli, so wondering what type of person would go after her is just a bit...
I think you get the idea.
"We're getting off topic." My mother said. "Ladies, please introduce yourself to my son."
"With pleasure Lady Vampir." Veronica said. She then looked at me.
I can't feel any killing intent from her, so that probably means she and the others have different personalities than from the Vanitas series.
I'm 70% sure at the moment. Because if Veronica was the same as she was in that series then my mother wouldn't let her within 100 meters of me. Meaning I have nothing to worry about.
I hope.
"Greeting young lord, my name is Veronica De Sade." Veronica told me.
"A pleasure Ms. Veronica." I said.
I then turned my eyes to Dominque.
She looked at me, but didn't say a word.
It when on like this for a moment, before her sister gently patted her on the back and pushed her in my direction. "Go on Domi, he won't bite." Veronica told her, giving her an encouraging.
'Ok, now I'm definitely sure they are all different from their Vanitas manga counterparts.' I thought.
Because there is no way in the hell the original Veronica who ever be encouraging Dominique like this, especially to get close to a boy.
Glad to know my worries were unfounded.
Dominque moved closer to me. She then looked me in the eyes. "H-hello, young lord. My name is Dominque De Sade, and its a p-pleasure to make your acquittance."
"The same." I told her, giving her a smile at the end.
Dominque looked away from me, a massive blush forming on her cheeks.
'Cute.' I thought.
Her reaction is too cute.
But since I am in no way a lolicon I am not going to do anything to her.
I don't want the FBI breaking down my door after all. Those guys always know when stuff like that goes down.
Anyway, once the introductions were out of the way, my mother ushered all of us to the tables. That's when servants entered the room and began serving us dinner.
As we ate we discussed minor things. Mostly everyone else talked while I listened.
I didn't have much to say after all since my routine has been pretty much the same for the last few years.
Wake up, eat, train, eat, train, watch anime and movies, shower, sleep, then repeat the whole process against the next day.
And before anyone says anything I'm not a loner. I want friends, it's just that all the kids my age I try and talk to walk on eggshells around me.
I am the bosses kid after all. They say one wrong word around me, and their lives and the lives of their loved ones could be ruined.
But I'm not some pompous young master.
However no matter how many times I tried to show the other kids that, they still keep avoiding me.
At first I was a little disheartened since I really wanted to make some friends. But after a while I came to terms with it and just resolved to make friends when I was older.
Dinner went rather quickly, and before I knew it desert had arrived.
Tonight's is caramel and strawberry cheesecake, my favorite.
*Bang Bang*
My mother tapped the side of her glass with her fork, drawing everyone's attention to her.
"Before we continue I have some announcements to make." Mother began. "First off Kufa, Veronica is your going to be your magic tutor. Enjoy, and learn everything you can from her. She is one of fattest rising progenitors around."
"Yes mother." I said. I then looked at Veronica. "Teacher, please take care of me."
After getting to know Veronica over this meal I realized she is a nice girl who loves her little sister.
I was right, she is nothing like her counter-part.
The same with Ruthven. I sensed no deception from him, and I felt sincerity from his words every time he spoke with my mother tonight.
Actually it was more than sincerity. There was something else in the mix
...
'Ah.' I thought. Ruthven likes my mother in "that" manner.
Well it's none of my business.
But if he hurts her I'll kill him. Other than that I wish him luck.
"I will do my best." Veronica said.
My mother nodded. She then looked at me. "Now that that's out of the way I have a question for you Kufa, how do you feel about Dominque?"
"Eh? What exactly do you mean?" I asked her.
"I mean, do you two get along? Is she bothering you at all?" She asked me.
"Yes." I said. "I think we get along fine. And no I don't find her bothersome. But why are you asking me that?"
"Every high-ranking noble has an attendant/bodyguard to see to their needs. Mine as you know is Horn, and for you I want to pair you up with Dominque. This dinner was to judge if it would be a good match, and from the look of things my instincts were right once more." My mother explained to me, putting a bit of a smug smile on her face.
I ignored her and turned to Dominque. "Dominque, do you want to be partnered with me?" I asked her.
"Yes, that's fine." She said, a blush coming over her face. "Partnered with lord Kufa. Well if its him I don't mind." She whispered.
But we all heard it with our enhanced hearing.
My mother grinned and gave me two thumbs up.
Veronica used her sleeve to cover her face, but I knew she was smirking behind it.
Ruthven simply nodded without saying a word.
As for me, I facepalmed.
Because once again I am not a lolicon.
But when she is older I will definitely taste. Especially if she grows into that beauty that she did in the Vanitas series.
My future is looking brighter and brighter.
