In 1986, the world's peace ended due to demons, and Earth became filled with dungeons. On the day the demons invaded, people were dying, lacking the courage to fight back. However, Hiroshi Yamamoto, a determined young man, had enough. When he killed a demon, he felt a strange sensation—suddenly, light from the sky appeared and passed through his body. The light changed to red, and electric power surrounded him. People realized that killing a demon with one's own strength grants random power.
"And that's how demons entered this world, and that's how you gain power. Alright, students, we will be going to dungeons tomorrow to kill demons—Huh? Who is sleeping over there?" the teacher approached a dozing student, Takashi.
"Hey, Takashi, wake up! The teacher is coming," a friend tried to rouse him.
The leading character of this story: "Huh?*Drool."
"I was working hard and trying to teach you, but you guys are sleeping?" the teacher scolded him.
"S..Sorry," Takashi apologized.
"*Sigh, you sleep all day in class, but you are the top one in the school. Well, whatever. Did you hear what I said? Tomorrow, we are going to dungeons to kill the demon, so don't sleep while fighting the demon too. Understand?"
"Understood," Takashi promised not to sleep during the mission.
The bell rang, and the class ended. After class, Takashi went to see his little brother, Kenji, in the hospital due to a demon attack. Kenji was his only family after their parents were killed by demons.
"Hey Kenji, your brother is here," the nurse informed Kenji.
"Oh brother! You're here," Kenji said with a happy face.
"Yeah, I'm here. Guess what? Tomorrow, I'm fighting a demon. If I get power and earn money from that, you can get out of here and go to school too. Isn't that nice?" Takashi shared the happy news with his brother.
"Huh? REALLY?!?! Yay!!!" Kenji exclaimed, happy.
"Hahaha, wait," Takashi playfully tickled him, making his brother laugh.
As he played with Kenji, the time came. "Hahaha, alright Kenji, I gotta go to work. Bye," Takashi went to work.
"You're late again, Takashi. If you keep doing this, I'm gonna have to fire you," the owner yelled at him.
"S..Sorry, I was visiting my brother," Takashi apologized.
"I don't care about that. If you're late again, I'm gonna have to fire you," the owner warned before leaving.
After finishing work, Takashi went outside for a smoke. "*Sigh, when will my life change? Why do I keep saying sorry to everyone?" Takashi spoke to himself, wondering when his life would change. "It's pretty late I should go home." Takashi went home and slept, preparing for tomorrow.
