A Dream Like Place

The sun's golden beams spread like a pervasive blanket across the landscape, this I reckon must've been a sign of something good. I felt the tenderness of its warm atmosphere gleaming onto my skin. However It is the first time I'm going to see the prince. I felt a nervous suspicion deeply growing inside the pit of my stomach.

"Elena!" screamed a noticeable voice.

"Draven..." I said quietly with a smile. He scurried over to the east garden, where I was located before I could say something else. "So, how have you been?" he asked, boasting with a grin on his face. "good enough, but it feels much better now that you're here." I replied, also grinning. "Aw Elena! Oh my word, I totally forgot... How could you not tell me that you were going to get married!" He exclaimed in a high pitched voice, clasping his hands next to his chest and looking at me with teared up eyes.

"Draven,I'm sorry but my messenger bird is dead" I protest, with a short sigh.

"What! Oh come on Elena did you kill it again?" He asked annoyedly, "Well it's not my first time, get used to it you piece of wood" I explained with a slightly irritated voice.

"Hmmm, even though I feel bad for your messenger bird, this one is your...thirtieth time!" He exclaimed, mouth wide open in shock. "Draven, you know I don't do it on purpose, I haven't been able to have proper meals in forever" I say, letting out another sigh whilst Draven nods his head in disbelief. "Fine, however I heard today you were going to be taken to the human Palace to meet your...husband".

Now that Draven reminds me, I totally forgot that I had to go meet the Prince before our marriage next month, however, when I looked back at Draven I noticed a dull and annoyed expression on his face, the face of jealousy and anger.

Draven had loved me since he was 9, well, we had our first kiss together when we were 10. I never really had feelings for Draven but when he kissed me I felt something, a feeling of nervousness or happiness that wrapped around me like a warm hug. I had a tingling feeling in my stomach... I was only 10 so I never really thought about it too much.

Draven since then never had a proper relationship, no one in our class, or anyone below. All this time he had only ever looked at me with big pulsing purple eyes and white silky hair, which resembled the cloudiness of snow. He would act so cute, and make me smile whenever we were together, but I had never been able to marry him like he had promised me. Since then, I've always felt the lurking shadows in my heart, a feeling described as guilt.

Later that afternoon, as the sun was setting and the beautiful grey moon pondered in the sky, father told me to be the most beautiful thing anyone would ever lay eyes on. So I did as he said. I wore a long red and black gown  with red glitter around the chest, lined up with black beads.

The gown itself is headed straight down, I prefer it like that. I had blood like gem earrings with gold spirals wrapping around it hanging down all the way to my neck, I also had an all gold necklace with black, red beads and crystals hanging down to my cleavage with a 'V' shape neckline.

My arms were filled with matching bracelets and black long lace gloves. My shoes were normal black stilettos. My hair was the most important for me. My natural hair is wavy but I prefer it straight so I had asked for it to be straight. In between all the hair there were small pieces of plaits with gold beads in the middle of each.

Lastly, the maids handed me a small Golden crown. It was Father's first love, Mother Lilith's Crown, "One's Unconditional Love". Mother Lilith named it after slowly getting sickened and fatigued day after day.

"Princess Elena, Your highness is waiting in the carriage.'' As she bows and exists I slowly rise and start to slowly walk out the door. My heart was leaping out of my chest, I felt like I had just run around the whole castle twice.

Slowly getting guided by maids out of the door and into the carriage, I felt a dreadful sickness growing. My stomach felt like it was turning inside out. Humans, the thought of their warm blood sinking into my teeth...i can't hold it in no longer.

"Can someone help me please?"I requested just before my head began to spin, making me drowsy by every second.

When I woke up I was in a beautiful fairy-like room. It had gold designs with pillars supporting the high ceiling. The windows were covered in ancient angel art and while I was laying on the soft bed that felt of nothing, I thought to myself how long It's been since I've seen so much colour, it kind of felt different.

A deafening knock hit on the birch doors with sudden enthusiasm. "Who's there!" I cry out in a reluctant way. "My princess, your father and my king had requested you at the dinner table." The maids' voice trembled and her scent was weird, it smelt sickening each time I took a breath. It's similar scent, "what is it?" I questioned myself.

I sprung into the air and fixed myself quickly before reaching for the handle, with a great force I pushed the door open staring at the little maid smirking with a smug face. I ran down the wooden stairs, not really paying attention, my mind was blank. All I could do is hope my family was alright.

As a vampire my sense of smell is better than anything and anyone living, I can smell emotions, feelings, dangerous things, poison, tension, blood and animals. Once I reached the bottom of the stairs I swiftly called for a maid and asked what direction the dinner was.

Then I smelt it again, the thick disgusting smell of poison on my father's fork. How dare they! I rushed to the dining table, to find my father slowly bringing the fork closer to his mouth "Father!" I screamed, as I smacked the fork of his hand, "Elena-" He asserted sternly, "Father, the fork had been poisoned" I stated.

The king had a bewildered expression smeared all over his face, "How dare my people attack my guests..." He questioned.

"Sorry father I couldn't come sooner, I embarrassed you," I apologised whilst bowing down as an apology. "It wasn't your fault my dear, you had fainted anyways, how would you've known?" He chuckled slightly. He didn't seem the slightest concerned about the situation.

"So we all know why we are here right now eating at this table," He said as he gestured to all of us with his hands, "My young daughter, who helped me at this moment, has agreed to marry your handsome son with your delightful consent" he asked with a slight grin. "Our King of Hell, your daughter Elena is gorgeous, even looking at her with a  glance, she can blow away the minds of every young boy, my son Prince Moluan would delightfully accept this marriage and take Princess Elena as a wife." The king quoted with a friendly smile on his face.

The queen sat and said nothing, so did my sisters, brother and step mothers. What kind of dinner is this without any proper conversations? It's boring.

"So, I heard Elena is a vampire but also a devil, that was in fact very rare right?" The human king asked with a questioning face, Father shot a glance at me asking me to talk on his behalf, "Well, my dear human king, it is true that I am a devil but also a vampire, this combination does seem to make me sound weird, however I can sometimes be very dangerous...especially when i get hungry" The king suddenly starts staring at me slightly threatened but calm. "Oh, what do you eat my dear?" he replied while laughing sarcastically,

"Hm, blood, humans, bones, and normal food humans eat, not to mention the fact that I eat birds too" I ranted. "Well then good that you like blood and bones because I have a feast for you my dear" He proposed.

In a matter of seconds the vast dining table was filled with different cuisines. Each plate was decorated so well, I could even describe it as an enclosed piece of art.
