***THREE WEEKS LATER***

Delilah returned to the United States after visiting her family in Nigeria; she had no idea how badly she needed this vacation, but she was overjoyed to see her parents. She enjoyed her time in her homeland, but she also gained clarity about her feelings for Kim and Morian. Kim met her at the airport; he had missed her as much as she had missed him. She was overjoyed to see him and catch up with him; they spoke almost every day while she was in Nigeria, and he also got to speak with her parents, who adored him. Her father was initially hesitant about Kim and her interracial relationship, but he eventually agreed.

"I am over the moon to have you back my love."

"Me too, it's been too long."

"Three long weeks but who's counting," replied Kim Dae-Jung with a cheeky smile.

They arrived at her apartment, he helped her with her luggage,

He left her to settle in, and rest till he returned in the evening.

She was so relieved to be back in her apartment, she dreaded having to go through her school emails; she was scheduled to start her internship at the hospital the next day. She organized and unpacked her house. Kim returned after a few hours, and they went out to dinner.

The next morning, she arrived at the hospital to begin her internship; she couldn't believe her eyes when the taxi arrived at the hospital; it looked strangely familiar. Then it hit her: it was the same hospital where Morian worked. She couldn't have known because she was in such a hurry that she hadn't read the email properly.  She couldn't believe what she was seeing; she was overcome with emotion. She was assigned to work as an intern at the same hospital where Morian worked. She'd made up her mind about the doctor and wasn't going to let her feelings for Morian interfere with her relationship with Kim. How was she going to avoid him now that she was working so close to him?

She and the other new interns were shown around the hospital by a senior nurse before being assigned different tasks for the day. Delilah was overjoyed and elated.

It had been a long morning; Doctor Morian had already seen at least five patients. Before his lunch break, he had one more patient. Even though it was exhausting, he enjoyed being able to save lives, which went against his nature.

He entered the patient's room and heard dialogue, assuming the patient had a visitor. To his surprise, it was Delilah; their gazes met, and her expression mirrored his.

He was taken aback when he saw her.

"Good morning," he said to the patient and Delilah, who was joined by another nurse.

"Good morning, doctor Morian," the nurse replied, "this is Delilah, a medical student who will be working with us for the next few weeks."

"Pleasure," Morian said as he turned to Delilah.

Delilah simply smiled back, masking the volcano of emotions erupting within her. There had to be a logical explanation for why she was so affected when she was in the presence of this one man.

Delilah's heart sank to her stomach; she knew she'd run into him at some point, but she never imagined her nerves would be so affected by his presence.

"She is to shadow you doctor and be your assistant for the next couple of weeks," said the nurse as she squeezed the patient's hand with a warm smile.

"Good luck" mouthed the nurse to Morian as she exited the room.

Morian cleared his throat;" how are you feeling this morning Mrs. Alsina?"

"Very fine thank you, Doctor, I was able to sleep through the night, so that's an improvement."

"I'm glad, so I'm just going to quickly check your blood pressure and leave you to rest some more."

Delilah jumped to her feet and dragged the blood pressure machine from the corner of the room closer to Morian.

"Thank you," he said, smiling warmly.

Her skin was flushed; she hadn't seen his handsome face in weeks, and it felt like an eternity. She wondered what he did while she was gone, if he met another woman he liked. She caught herself mid-thought and pushed those thoughts aside; whether he had a new woman in his life was none of her business. Her bond with Kim had grown stronger, and she was determined to focus on him. They left the room once Morian was finished.

"I had no idea you were a medical student."

"My bad I think I forgot to mention that at our date all those weeks ago."

"Hmm, you Delilah are a gift that keeps on giving, I wonder what other interesting things I will get to learn about you."

She batted her eyes bashfully and smiled sweetly at him.

"What made you decide to want to study medicine?"

"Growing up my grandfather suffered from Alzheimer's and I wanted to help save him, it broke my father's heart watching his dad deteriorate mentally."

"Wow, I'm sorry to hear that, often such tragedies serve as inspirations for goodness."

"What about you? Why did you become a doctor"

"Growing up, I was surrounded by a lot of uhm, Death, and I felt like it was my fault, so the only way I thought I could alleviate that was to help life. So, I became a doctor."

"Oh my, one day when you have the time I'd love for you to go into detail about that. How can you fault yourself for Death? You are one of the most amazing people I have met Morian."
