What was this? Why did he feel that he has heard this voice before? Justin looked at his friends and was about to ask them who was the girl who spoke just now when he saw them looking in that particular direction.
"So her name is Evangeline. A pretty name for a pretty girl," they were nodding at each other, and it was obvious who they were talking about.
He narrowed his eyes and looked at the back of the girl, noticing her features. However, no matter how many times he saw her back, it was hard to decipher if he knew her.
He had a presumption, but it was hard to make out if he was thinking right.
The entire lecture Justin kept stealing glances at the girl, hoping to see her face, but to no avail did his luck work.
"Aaron, this is your chance. Strike a conversation with her before she leaves. She is a beauty and a catch. Tell her you are sorry, and you want to buy her a drink. Don't wait until someone else strikes up the conversation. Look at those boys stealing glances at her," Ethan hyped Aaron even more.
"You think it would work?" Aaron whispered, and Ethan grinned at him.
"It always works. It's a direct approach. Be polite and respectful. Don't act like you have fallen for her or something. That will creep her out," Ethan said, and Aaron mustered up the courage before looking at his phone.
Just two more minutes, and he will talk to her. Aaron nodded at himself.
However, as soon as the lecture was over and he stood from his place to walk to the girl, Justin pushed him out of the way, and rushed to the girl, much to his friends' shock.
Ethan -"..."
Aaron -"..."
Rest of the friends - "..."
He was the same guy who didn't even want to look at her, right? They looked at each other in shock before looking at their friend who was rushing towards her, jumping between the seats as if she was some long-lost friend.
Justin walked to her and took a deep breath.
"Eva?" Justin tested the waters, and Evangeline, who hung her bag on her shoulders, turned to the person who called her nickname.
She didn't expect anyone to be calling her by this name on her first day and hour here.
Evangeline looked at the familiar guy in front of her and smiled.
"It's you," she said, and Justin looked at the familiar beauty before scratching the back of his head.
"I didn't know I'll get to see you here after what happened that night," Justin murmured, and Evangeline rolled her eyes.
"Damn, your brother is really full of himself. This was the first time someone called me a stalker," Evangeline sighed, remembering the night they met.
"I am so sorry for that night. I had no idea my brother would react like that honestly," Justin said.
Meanwhile, his friends who were still standing frozen in their place, looked at their cold friend who never initiates a conversation with anyone acting so boyishly for the first time.
"It looks like Justin knew the girl all along. I am sorry to say, Aaron, but your crush is in big trouble," Ethan said.
"My love life ended before it could even start
Justin drowned my heart," Aaron pouted, and the rest of the friends chuckled at his choice of words before walking to where Justin was.
"So you are studying at this University? I have never seen you before, even in the area," Justin said, and Evangeline looked at her phone that had an incoming call from James, and she rolled her eyes inwardly before ending the call.
"Yeah, that's because I was studying somewhere else before. I came to the city the same day when I met you. Remember me telling you that I came from the airport?" Evangeline asked, and Justin nodded.
"So...uh...why did you join the University so late? If you were here earlier?" Justin asked, and Evangeline looked into his brown eyes before stepping ahead and leaning forward, still a good distance away from him.
"For someone you met only the second time, you surely have a lot of questions. Is that because your brother called me a stalker?" Evangeline said, and Justin chuckled awkwardly.
"Justin, we are going to the canteen. It's our free lecture. You coming?" Ryan asked, and Justin turned around towards his friends before looking at Evangeline.
"Join us?" He asked, and Evangeline looked at her phone before nodding.
"Sure, why not. But are you sure your brother would like it? After all, I am the named stalker of the century," Evangeline mused, and he chuckled.
"I don't even know why he reacted like that. He doesn't even bother talking to anyone ever," Justin said.
"Maybe that's because I called him a dude," Evangeline narrowed her eyes, remembering the argument.
"Dude?"
"And blind, and deaf, and dumbhead and -"
"Okay, fine. You can stop. I get it. You guys had a decent argument," Justin said, and Evangeline nodded with a proud smile, making Justin look at the girl weirdly.
What was she so happy about? Does she even have any idea what his brother had done if he had been in a bad mood? He would've made her entire family disappear.
Justin shook his head.
"Oh, I forgot to introduce you. Guys, she is Eva. Evangeline, I mean. We met a couple of days ago in the Continental Club,"
"Eva, these are my friends. Liam, Ethan, Ryan, Aaron, and Sarah. Belle and Wendy are in different courses," Justin said, and Evangeline nodded at everyone.
"You surely have a lot of friends," Evangeline said, and she turned around when she noticed she forgot her apartment keys under the desk.
"Hey, are you -" Sarah placed her hand over Evangeline's shoulders, and Evangeline froze in her place.
Her pupils dilated and she grabbed Sarah's hand. She was about to throw the intruder who attacked her from behind when she snapped out of it and remembered she was in the university.
"Yes, you were saying something?" Evangeline turned and asked with a smile.
However, Ryan who noticed the slight flicker of the emotions in her eyes and how quickly she masked them, narrowed his eyes at her.
This girl doesn't seem as jolly as she is appearing. He will have to keep a lookout for her.
"Are you not from here?" Sarah asked, and Evangeline smiled.
"I belong to this country, but I was away from the main city for some time for personal reasons," Evangeline smiled, her eyes turning to a crescent moon shape, and Justin gazed at her before nodding at himself.
There was no way a girl like this was a stalker. His brother was indeed overreacting.
