CH 25 - Colossal ghoul II

"Brook, Karla and Jessica keep your distance. If you can, attack it from afar."

As I spoke that I charged directly towards the giant ghoul. It swung the pole towards me. I quickly dodged since it was just a giant heavily telegraphed smash straight down. But as the pole made contact with concrete it smashed it to pieces and scattered all around. Spiderweb of cracks appeared on the concrete where pole impacted. This display alone confirmed to me the fact that every hit from this giant monster is death sentence and that I under any circumstances could not let it get close to girls.

I quickly moved forward and reached it's and started doing work. I decided to use standard strategy of dodging and freezing the leg. As I was dodging and freezing the giant legs slowly, I noticed that elemental and Sheela was trying to do their best also hurt the legs while Brook was shooting an arrow after arrow towards the giant.

The most important part for me was to keep it occupied and focused on me. So, I kept on stabbing whenever I could while giant ghoul was trying to stomp on me and kept tossing anything he could grab my way. Bricks, roof tiles, chunks of concrete anything he grabbed. Plus, sometimes he tried to grab me or punch me. Since it was much slower than me to begin with and as a stacks of creeping frost and my aura went to work, he was becoming even slower.

Creeping frost was proving to be effective but anything else was creating just shallow cuts and bruises. The skin of this think was too thick. For now, I focused on immobilizing this fucker I decided to figure out the way of actually killing it later.

It took several minutes since the leg was huge and its resistance to freezing too but I was able to freeze and shatter it. As the huge leg shattered the giant ghoul fell down on its ass and screeched.

"Aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!"

Anger and pain visible on the face of the huge ghoul. It started to slam around with its hand as it was sitting in desperate attempt to squash the bug that was hurting it. I continued to dodge the attacks. But it became harder since ghoul was just randomly flailing around in hopes of hitting me, there was no way to predict when and where it will strike again. All I could do was to rely on my speed and reflexes.

First thing I noticed that since he landed on his but it started to slowly freeze thanks to my aura. So, I decided to help it as much as I could and I started to stab at it whenever I had the opportunity in between dodging the reckless attacks of the ghoul. Over time concrete road we were fighting on got completely ruined and changed into pile of concrete rubble.  Pieces of concrete and dust was flying everywhere. Lowering the visibility and complicating my dodging. But I had no other option just to keep dodging attacks anyway so I had to persevere.

Like this it went for more than 10 minutes when after a massive effort bottom half of ghoul froze and it shattered completely from the waists down. This made it so it was unable to sit and it fallen face first into rubble that once was a road.

Another screech of pain could be heart far and wide but ghoul didn't surrender his life yet. His flailing became even more erratic. It was using all its might in hope of hitting me. It wanted to eradicate the pest that took half of his body away. If before his face displayed anger, now it was pure hatred.

It was like cornered animal, ghoul pulled all the stops and used anything he could. He again starter tossing stuff randomly all around the place.

"Retreat!" I screamed towards the girls.  I didn't want to risk them being hit by the concrete ghoul was tossing around randomly. As they heard me, they moved back so that they won't get hit and I continued in my conquest of giant ghoul.

I thought for a second what to next, but then I noticed that the creeping frost stacks started to appear not just on his torso and face, but also his hands . That gave me a pathway to stop the flailing.

I started to stab at the hand wherever I could. Ghoul smashed to the ground, I stepped back dodged and before it could pick up its hand, I stabbed it a few times. The following fifteen minutes were very hectic for me, I was dodging with very low visibility attacks that had no sense or pattern.

But I was slowly managing to inflict frost on the hands and they were slowing down over time and after another five minutes I was able to shatter one of the giant's hands. In another two to three minutes, I was able to finish the other hand.

As the second shattered ghoul screeched for the last time as it looked at me. All it could do was to snap with its head towards me. But I didn't give him a chance. I quickly jumped up to its back and running to the back of its head I started to stab its nape as fast as I could. I was trying to finish the ghoul as fast as I could and indeed few seconds later, I was able to shatter it head.

As its head shattered all the adrenaline that was keeping me going until now vanished and I collapsed from the back of the ghoul to ground. I was totally spent. Mentally done for. I needed to rest.

After I fell to the ground and was just barely able to keep myself conscious I could hear the voices of girls screaming in fear that something happened to me.

  All I was able to do in this state was to just raise the hand and show them the thumbs up, hoping they would be able to see it in middle of the junk I was lying in.

It took just a few second for girls to appear next to me and to see me lying on my back with raised hand with a thumbs up. This made them relax.

"Are you OK Vic?" Karla asked.

"Yes, just exhausted." I answered.

"Ok, just lay down. Jessica, please stay near him and make sure he is fine, Brook lets gather loot quickly so we can get him to the stadium."

Both Jessica and Brook nodded and did what they were asked for. After another ten minutes we were already on the way towards the stadium. To be precise I was more or less just hanging on Karla and Brook while they dragged me while I was half asleep.
