Thea looked calmly at her, gesturing for her to continue.
It was perfectly normal for Batman to get into trouble; in fact, it would be abnormal if he didn't.
As an ordinary person without any enhancements, relying solely on his muscles, he picked fights with everyone, from the regular folks to those who rarely returned from outer space. He had provoked almost every superhero and supervillain, so hearing that he was in trouble didn't surprise Thea at all. She looked at Selina expressionlessly, silently urging her to continue.
"He's been captured by someone named Bane, and his whereabouts are unknown. Currently, Bane controls half of Gotham City. Both Arkham Asylum and Blackgate Penitentiary have been opened by him, and now the city is overrun with criminals. We urgently need your help," Selina said earnestly, looking at Thea.
Wasn't this the plot of The Dark Knight Rises? Thea remembered how Catwoman had tricked Bruce Wayne in the movie, but this situation was different. They had known each other since childhood and had been through many trials together. Despite their on-again, off-again relationship, such deep bonds couldn't be easily broken by a few threats.
Realizing that she couldn't simply follow the plot of the movie, Thea carefully asked, "Who is this Bane?"
"I don't know much about him, but I do know that he's incredibly skilled and seems to have strength far beyond that of a normal person. I heard from one of his henchmen that he has the strength of two tons, but I'm not sure if that's true. However, he defeated Batman barehanded, and I saw him break Batman's spine," Selina said, looking somewhat disheartened.
Two tons? At the same time, she realized that this Bane was definitely not the same as the one from the movie. This guy must have taken some kind of enhancement drug or bio-agent to have such immense strength.
Faced with Selina's earnest gaze, Thea thought about refusing to go, but when she saw Felicity's encouraging and excited look through her glasses, she reluctantly smiled and said, "The Joker hasn't been released, has he?"
"No, he's being held in a special facility. But... except for him, almost everyone else has escaped," Selina wanted to say that in their neck of the woods, the criminals usually stay put, but she knew no one would believe that, so she told the truth.
Relieved to hear that the Joker hadn't escaped, Thea let out a sigh of relief. In the DC universe, there were three types of people: heroes, villains, and then there was the Joker. He was truly unpredictable. He's really not that strong in combat, but his mind is constantly racing, and he doesn't seem to experience fear at all. Even if God descended to Earth in the DC universe, he would dare to stab him.
This person's mind is completely unpredictable, and nobody knows what he's plotting. Thea remembered that in a parallel timeline, he once caused Superman to mistakenly kill his own girlfriend, leading to Superman's corruption. He also kidnapped Lex Luthor, a major supervillain with a genius-level intellect, and ultimately used a nuclear bomb to destroy Metropolis, directly causing the division of the Justice League. His initial purpose was just to mess around for the sake of it.
Thea didn't dare to easily provoke such a dangerous character. If he were to learn her identity, her family would be in big trouble. She breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing that he was still being held captive.
Quietly recalling Gotham's major villains, it seemed that besides Bane, who was exceptionally formidable, the rest were just ordinary people, or rather, mentally unstable ordinary people. With her equipment, she couldn't exactly crush them, but she figured there wouldn't be much danger.
"Okay, we'll go with you," Thea pondered that they probably wouldn't pay for their help, but she couldn't go empty-handed. Maybe she should find a few unscrupulous people to do a job with her?
"You two?" Selina stared at Felicity beside her, meaning, is this girl a hero too?
Felicity quickly understood her implication. She indignantly stated that her hacking skills were top-notch and demonstrated some advanced facial recognition and location tracking techniques, which greatly impressed Selina, who had only learned how to pick locks since childhood.
With her joining, it was a tacit approval. Since you're not afraid of death, then come along. We'll organize some buddies to sing you a welcome song in Gotham.
"Who else is on your team? Have you invited anyone else?" Thea wasn't sure what era they were in now. How many members had the Batman family expanded to? The more people, the stronger the force. If she could recruit a few more powerhouses from elsewhere, she could happily play a supporting role and achieve success.
Unaware of her various thoughts, Selina honestly replied, "On our side, it's me, Batgirl, and Robin. Also, I've asked Lady Shiva to look for Batman. She has a lot of connections in the underworld, so I believe she'll have good news soon."
With the three of them plus themselves, hey, that's five people! Was this going to be a team dungeon run? Unfortunately, Catwoman, Batgirl, and Robin, along with herself, didn't have much combat power. They were all agility focused heroes! Felicity could only handle logistics and cheer everyone on, maybe even act as a mascot. This dungeon run was going to be tough.
Actually, it would be great if Lady Shiva were here. She could temporarily absorb damage. It's a pity she was sent to find Batman. It's tempting to suggest letting Lady Shiva handle the combat while she focused on search, but that would diminish her own prestige and boost someone else's.
And she really had no idea where Batman was being held. In the movies, it was a deep pit, and Bruce had even taken a leap of faith, but in this real world, who knows where that place could be. She could only hope Lady Shiva would find him soon and bring him back to clean up the mess.
She asked Selina how she got here and learned that their arsenal had been discovered by Bane, and all the high-tech equipment had been taken. Without Batman around to make decisions, she was at a loss. She hitched a ride all the way here, so female heroes shouldn't rely too heavily on others; they should be self-reliant.
She ordered the group to prepare a helicopter for her. Finding out that Selina could pilot it, Thea breathed a sigh of relief. After all, Gotham wasn't exactly a tourist city. From Selina's description of gunfire and chaos, she had been wondering how to bluff the pilot, so this was a relief.
The two of them didn't hide the fact that they had folded the Glider and packed them in backpacks. Weighing less than twenty pounds, they were indeed deadly weapons for household travel.
Superheroes were good in that they never questioned others' abilities or backgrounds. You could say what you wanted, and if you didn't want to, you could leave it. Selina watched as the two naturally stood aside to pack their gear.
She didn't know how intense this battle was going to be, so Thea brought all her arrows. Yes, she had decided to be the long-range damage dealer. Although she was more skilled in close combat, she felt more comfortable leaving such an important position to someone else.
Felicity was still immersed in the fantasy of being a hero. It took several reminders from Thea before she realized she needed to prepare as well.
After running around busy for a while, apart from a tablet, they didn't find anything else they needed to bring.
"Thea, should we bring some food?"
"Thea, have you seen my charger?"
Selina couldn't help but roll her eyes. In a city as big as Gotham, would they really lack food? Thea also felt a bit embarrassed. They were really lowering the standards of the Starling City female heroes. Didn't she see how their colleague in Gotham laughed at them? She quickly pulled Felicity inside to change her clothes. After all, the situation in Gotham was unclear. After all, the situation in Gotham was uncertain, and she couldn't sit in front of the monitor with fries and coke like before, watching live streams. That was just not possible anymore.
