Chapter 46

It was late at night when Kara decided to wake up her family. She thought the roar of the plane would wake them up anyway, so she took the opportunity to tell them about the call she had just received from Bruce. However, instead of using his name, she referred to him as "Batman" and explained that she had to go to Gotham City.

Jonathan, her adoptive father, was clearly worried about her secret identity.

Kara reassured him, saying she would wear a suit similar to Batman's and try not to use her superpowers, relying only on her physical strength to resolve any conflict.

When Alfred arrived with the plane, Kara realized it was a silent model. The noise hadn't woken anyone.

In fact, the plane seemed to be the prototype of Batman's future Batwing.

Only Alfred was on board. Thanks to the advanced technology, the plane landed without making any noise in front of the Kent family's house.

Kara remembered the serious and urgent tone in Bruce's voice, which indicated that the situation in Gotham was dire. With one last look at her family, she quickly climbed up the rope ladder Alfred had lowered and settled into the plane.

As they took off, she bid her cousin Clark farewell with a glance, warning him not to follow. Unlike many stories where Superman tried to protect and calm his cousin, here it was Kara who was keeping Clark at bay, knowing he wasn't ready to face the darkness looming over Gotham.

The plane was extremely fast, and Gotham wasn't far away, so they would arrive soon.

While traveling, Alfred explained the current situation to Kara.

It turned out that Bruce had recently been attacked and seriously injured. After helping the police capture Carmine Falcone, he discovered some unexpected clues.

When Bruce followed these leads, he was attacked with a poisonous gas that caused terrible hallucinations. Fortunately, Alfred and Lucius Fox were able to detoxify him in time.

Lucius Fox, the technological genius behind Wayne Enterprises, was a key figure in Bruce's team, responsible for providing much of Batman's combat gear.

After recovering, Bruce received news that his childhood friend, Rachel Dawes, was in danger. He rushed to Arkham Asylum to save her, and it was there that he discovered a terrifying conspiracy.

A group known as the League of Shadows, led by Ra's al Ghul, was planning to use a device stolen from Wayne Enterprises to spread a toxic gas throughout Gotham. This gas was being created by Dr. Jonathan Crane, also known as the Scarecrow.

Kara frowned upon hearing that name.

"Crane? Is that his real name?" Kara asked, intrigued.

Alfred, somewhat puzzled by the question, replied, "Yes, his name is Jonathan Crane."

Kara punched the wall of the plane, frustrated. "Jonathan? How dare he use that name?"

Alfred realized that Kara was upset but didn't understand why. For her, that name held deep personal meaning: Jonathan was the name of her adoptive father, Jonathan Kent.

"This guy is done for," Kara muttered under her breath.

Alfred continued explaining the situation. The League of Shadows had infiltrated Gotham with the help of Falcone, and now they planned to destroy the city. Bruce had been attacked by the Scarecrow's gas, and then his mansion, the iconic Wayne Manor, had been set ablaze by the League.

As they flew over the ruins of the mansion, Kara commented with irony, "What a shame, I should've asked for some of those items before they burned down."

Alfred nearly lost control of the plane at that remark. He knew about the terms Bruce had promised Kara, and couldn't believe she would seriously want to benefit from the tragedy.

However, Kara was just joking. Even if Bruce offered her something valuable, she probably wouldn't accept it. She wasn't someone driven by material possessions, much less by expensive gifts.

Finally, Alfred announced, "We've arrived. This is the place Mr. Wayne is currently using as his temporary base. We call it… the Batcave."

Kara looked around as the plane descended toward the hidden entrance of the cave. Although she didn't want to get involved, the situation was critical. Gotham needed her, and Bruce trusted her.
