RUFUS DECLARES HIS LOVE TO COURTNEY

Rufus could hear the rage that came the moment she said, "You should have never come to my rescue, all my troubles would have been over by now."

"Don't you ever say that again, do you hear me?"

"Why shouldn't I? Today I wouldn't have been here, I would have been with the man I love on our honeymoon. You brought me here to live in this jail, I hate you and I hate this Island."

Hearing while she speaks how her voice was so shaky, Rufus knew she was crying, but she was also angry and hurt as she walks out the room.

"Courtney, honey I love you."

Hearing as her voices trail out behind her, "Yes, I supposed you do, but I don't love you, and I never will."

Unable to move only the tears flow at the hurtful words she lashes out, 'I don't blame you my love.'

Being left alone Rufus close his eyes, if Courtney had returned to the room he cannot say, but with the way she was angry, he doubted that she would return to Pappie room.

When Dad and Alf came Rufus realized it was evening already, so he must have fallen asleep.

Hearing the knocking on the wall, knowing they were installing the door.

Trying to move but the pain was more intense. Rufus felt as though his back was on fire and it was swollen.

Afraid to say anything to Dad, with his eyes close he thought he was alone, the room was very quiet.

Trying to move only to feel the stinging pain on his back, when the groaning escape his lips.

Shocked when Dad spoke, "Were you lying here, the whole day Rufus?"

"I will be fine Dad."

"Fine!" touching his back feeling as though the fire was radiating out his back. "That's it, I am taking you to the Doctor now."

Calling Gus to help take him up, they rest him on the piece of board they brought to fix the wall.

"Dad, please let Gus and Alf take me to the hospital, and when the door is erected, and the wall is repaired then you come, you cannot leave her with these men alone?"

It was beginning to get dark when the work was done, 'Rufus, was right, it would not have been safe for her to be alone.' "Child it's all done now, I must go."

"Uncle Thanks."

"It alright, but will you bear for a few days until I get someone to fix the generator?"

"It's alright, I don't like too much meat, and the few vegetables will be enough. Uncle when I went into the room Rufus wasn't there, did he went home?"

"No child, we had to take him to the hospital, his back is swollen real bad, I am going to see him when I leave here."

"I am so sorry his back get damage, it is because he came to see that I was safe."

"No child, it's not your fault, he was just doing his duty for his people on the Island. You are no exception, now put something on your head, it is beginning to bleed again, did you bruise it?"

"I slip on the step while I was climbing up."

Leaving her, Rawlins look on over the beach seeing the impression where the water had reach, the moss from the beach had settled on the edge of the wall.

'Rufus, was right, but the water has never reached this high before?'

Calling out to her, "Courtney, you can wait for a day when the sun is hot and use a spade, all you do is just pass it on the step, and it will flake out easily."

"Okay, Uncle, and thanks for everything," hearing the van leave then she hurried and anoint the doors then relax.

Recalling Rufus words, it is his back, "Did I hurt his back when I was rubbing it, oh God I am so sorry, I didn't willfully mean to hurt his back I didn't even realized I was putting force on it.

The only thing on my mind was the thought of I being a Dawson, and none of them were being attacked by this force, except me, which irritated the hell out of me.

I didn't realize my outburst either, until I said I am a Brown. I wasn't even aware I was putting force on his back, I was thinking about Kyle.

I must tell him sorry, but why was I hearing like he was saying I am a Dawson, did he fell asleep and whispered the words? I am confused."

The days passed slowly, and Courtney spend most of her time in the vegetable garden, cleaning, and replanting all the plants that was destroyed and some that she had already harvested

No one had visited to see how she was doing, it appears as though everyone had completely forgotten all about her.

All the supplies was finished and the last few vegetables that survive after the storm isn't ready.

The generator was not working and no word came about Pappie, Moms neither about Rufus.

It was the half of August when no one came, having no choice I use Pappie money and went and bought some supplies at the market place.

It was already a month since the storm had taken place. Joe was her only companion, he was more faithful than the humans, when the evil force came he alerted her, never leaving her side.

What sort of evil is that, even the sea and the wind is control by it, so much destruction had taken place, if only she knew why this force is after her?

She would know exactly how to pray, Rufus said when he came and cover me with the blood of Jesus the evil force leaves.

Lord, I know only a child of God could accomplish such a task. He had to believe in You my Lord to receive such protection, an evil force with such power that could manipulate nature is difficult for a nonbeliever to drive out.

He had to be strong in the faith. The devil will laugh at a weak or unbelieving person. If Rufus is a believer then how could he had done such an evil deed on me? I am confused Lord, I need enlightenment.'
