RAWLIN VISIT HIS MOTHER

Rufus keeps looking at Carlos, "Come little brothers, I need to know what arrangement you have made with Grandmother companion?"

Thinking, 'So he has already seen Courtney, "As I said she is Grandmother's companion."

"What do her duties entail?" Carlos questions.

"Carlos, a companion does not have duties, it leaves up to her if she wants to assist in any chores, she prepares her own meals, and she only has to keep Grandmother company.

You all know Grandmother doesn't like anyone cooking or cleaning for her and especially attending to her vegetables."

"Then you all don't know Grandmother at all, while I was visiting, Grandmother said her companion made breakfast and when I left she was clearing away all the rubbles in her garden."

"Then I must see that for myself," Cheryl announce.

"Honey, didn't Rufus said she was not well, so her companion must be helping out."

"Mom, the rain was heavy yesterday and the winds were a bit boisterous, I am sure all sorts of rubbles must have blown into her garden.

I only hope there aren't too many damages done in her garden." Rufus responds.

"Well little brother from what I observed when I spoke to grandmother companion earlier, she had already cleared away most of the rubles when I was leaving."

"You spoke to her?" Rufus asks.

"Yes, you don't sound to please, but we are paying her a salary and I wanted to know how long she was hired to be Grandmother's companion?"

Hearing his mother asks, "And what was her response, Carlos?"

"She said only for a little while."

"When I suggested that we could hire her for this house, she was a bit angry saying, she was not a servant girl, I don't do chores and I am only here as a companion."

"Well, Carlos she is right, from what Rufus said he only hired her to accompany your Grandmother."

"But Mom she is a pretty little thing, and she will make the house lively."

Rawlins saw Rufus' face turns red, but he just bends his head and focuses on his plate which was set in front of him

Pondering in his heart Rawlins thought, 'Mother, had convinced Rufus to bring in a beautiful girl to distract Carlos from getting married?

If Cheryl learns about our plan, she will blow some steam, but my mother is subtle in her own ways and we have already discussed our plans.

I must see this young lady and I only hope none of them falls in love with her. Rufus has no idea and Mother won't reveal what we had discussed.

Only Father doesn't stand for no-nonsense, and from what Rufus said, he still has not returned home.

Standing up, "Honey, I am going to visit Mother then I will be heeding to the orchard."

"Okay, but tell your mother no last minute's plans."

"Okay honey, but you should go to her not her coming to you."

"Maybe later Rawlins."

"Then I will see you later."

Rufus watches his father go, then reason within himself, 'I cannot go now, but I need to see Grandmother."

"Rufus, your Father and I have invited a young lady to visit for a few days, if the both of you like each other, then we will arrange the wedding for you and Carlos one time."

"Mom, I am very sorry but I am not interested in having a relationship or getting married."

"Rufus, you will listen to me, your Grandfather wants an heir."

"Mom, let Carlos give him an heir, then he will learn what it takes to manage this Island, the people, and the business, I am not interested."

"You will do as I say, young man."

"Sorry Mom, I have already made my decision and I am not going to be bombarded into an arranged marriage by you or anyone else.

When I am good and ready to get married, it will be my choice and no one else."

"Hello, young man, you don't walk away on me."

"Mother, I have work to do, and whatever you have to discuss have no concerns to me. Just inform me when is Carlos's wedding and I will be there."

Running out of the room before she stops him again, "I must get away, I only hope Courtney doesn't say anything to them, about the marriage.

I was only instructed to bring a beautiful girl as Grandmother Companion."

Getting in his van as he drive out of the yard, "If only I knew they were getting me a wife, I would have left everything as it were, now my wife hates the very sight of me.
