CARLOS MADE A PROPOSITION

The weekend had finally reach and Moms had visited the family house, taking me along with her to meet the family.

I could not say I didn't want to go, or to meet the family, knowing they keep saying I am mom's companion, so I was left with no other choice than to follow her orders.

Hearing and seeing the two boys and the father was just enough. But being there was very enlightening, giving me a better understanding of the family.

Carlos sits in the midst of everyone meddling in every conversation. Few times his Mom asks about Rufus, saying he must come and see Valarie but no one bothers.

While the girls were only modeling from one dress to another. Moms seem dissatisfied but said nothing and poor Oliver, he had to be running from one end of the house to the other, doing from cooking to chores for either the Mother or the girls.

Entering the kitchen seeing the dog sitting in one corner nibbling on the bones Oliver keeps throwing his direction, which he seems contended with.

No one would believe me if I tell them that dog almost rip me apart. When I throw him a bone just as he was ignoring me now, he ignores the bone.

'Well who cares, from what I observes nobody in this house is normal anyhow.' The days creep by, Courtney spend most of her time on the beach anyhow.

As she walks on the beach thinking, 'That their plans had flopped, Carlos had taken a liking to the girl they had chosen for him, so the wedding will be this weekend.

Mom had said she will do the wedding cake, I observed no one hesitated for a second or complain, maybe she has someone to do her baking?

From what I observed earlier the kitchen cupboards and pantry are empty and yesterday I made a list and gives to Moms, and up to now no supplies came.

All I could prepare now with the last bit of flour is to make bread. And I could fry some tomatoes or fix some vegetables I enjoy the two anyways.

Noticing a river between the trees as she keep walking, getting closer only to see the roots were tangled up one on top of the other and there were holes between the roots.

Thinking out loud, "If she walk inside there to get to the river, she could hurt her foot," but then without a warning, a crab came bolting out from one of the holes. "Good Lord, if only I could get two like that big one, I will have a feast."

Taking up a piece of stick trying to hit the crab, but the stick break, "Well Courtney, there goes your feast?"

When the person speaks Courtney knew immediately without even looking it was Carlos, "You better be careful one of those crabs don't nip your toes, we can't have you limping for my wedding."

"I suppose not, it might be pretty embarrassing having to explain to everyone, and I might even be a laughing stock."

Stepping out from the river, onto the bank Carlos held her hand saying, "You are very pretty, you know that?"

"Thank you very much for the compliment Young Prince," but before she could remove her hand from his, he slightly bends and kiss her lips.

"So tell me do you go around kissing every pretty girl you meet?" Courtney asks as he keep smiling.

"Not every pretty girl, you are very pretty and special."

"Maybe I am, but if I recall clearly, I overheard you telling your fiancé the very same words."

Releasing his hand from hers when she said, "You must be careful, I might like this and what will your family say."

"What they don't know won't hurt, but tell me what do you think they might say?" Carlos asked being curious to hear what she has to say.

"I don't know your family, so I might guess wrong even mix up some vital facts."

"You could make a try, no one will get hurt, and who knows you could get it right the first try?"

"Okay let me see, from what I have gathered so far, your marriage was arranged, and you still has time to break it of if you so desires, but then if you do that the girl will have to be compensated for agreeing to marry you in the rush, rush agreement. How am I doing so far?"

"You are very smart, and I like that in a girl, I mostly meet those with beauty and no brain but you got them both, now let me make the most of this meeting."

"What do you mean?" Stepping back a bit afraid he might do just as his brother.

"I see my brother is very clever."

Stifling the fear so he won't feel she was a coward, when she said, "I don't quite understand what you are insinuating, but something tells me I won't like it?"

"He has plans of taking you all for himself."

"He does, but why would you think that Young Prince?" Courtney asks.

"Because he like pretty women, and you, my dear girl is very pretty."

"Thank you for the second compliment, but that is a load of nonsense, and furthermore I don't like your brother.

I just take this job, because work is scarcely coming by, and I need the cash to of-set some expenses I have, and he is paying well for my services.

If truth is known, which I haven't told anyone, I will be sending my entire salary home to help my Mom get the operation she needs, then I will return home."

"How about if I make a better offer, I could give you the money for your mom's surgery, and we could spend some time together."

"Are you insane? What would my husband say when he hear about that? Do you want me to be a laughing stock in my street when they hear what has happen and how will I face the people in Church when the people start talking?"

"You are married?"
