Chapter Twelve

Peyton's POV:

As I wake up, I hear a knocking on the front door, so I make my way to the door.

"Do you know where Cambry is?" Leah walks into my house after I open the door.

"No, do you?" I ask, still waking up.

"That's why I'm over here, stupid," She says. "Why are you still in your pajama pants without a shirt on?" She asks, noticing what I'm wearing.

"Relax, I just woke up. Let me go and get a shirt on and then you can tell me what's going on," I say, still not fully awake yet. Once I put on a shirt, I started the coffee maker and went out to the living room, back to Leah.

"Now start," I ask her.

"This morning I woke up. I wanted to check on Cambry because she seemed different. I walked into her room to find a letter on her desk and her missing. I was hoping she told you something about where she went," She says. Right then, my wolf went into a mode he's never been in before, he immediately took charge of everything. He was worried that she was missing but angry she ran away.

"What does the note say?" His deep voice asks through my mouth.

"Oh," Leah sounds surprised. "Now I am certain that she's your mate," She whispers.

"What did the note say!" Damian demands, getting angrier by the minute.

"Here," Leah hands me or him- the note. A white piece of paper was folded in half, so I unfolded the letter to find pink writing.

As I read the note in my head, my heart started breaking. She needed a break from me, but of course, that won't stop me from being upset at her.

"Where are her parents?" I ask, or Damian asks, taking control.

"They left early this morning, so they have no clue about her disappearance," She tells us.

"We have to go find her," he tells her. "I'll go tell our pack members," I tell her, immediately slipping on a pair of boots and leaving my room. As I made my way down the stairs, I mind-linked all of the pack members about the emergency and told them to meet in the living room. Once everyone was in the dining room, I explained about my missing mate, which helped my wolf calm down a bit and give me back control.

"So you want us to find the beta-female?" Nigel, one of our many fighters asks.

"Yes, do you have a problem with that?" I ask him in an irritated tone.

"Of course not Beta?" He says, bowing his head.

"I need you to look everywhere when scouting for her, she's human and anything can happen to her," I say, getting more worried.

"We will do everything we can, Beta," Marx, the female leader of our fighters says.

"Thank you all, now don't come back without her," I tell them, already making my way out the door to change into my wolf form and find her. Gosh, I hope she's alright.
