Part Seven - Allegro
Jai pulls away, slides off my arms, the warmth of his body against mine instantly replaced by a cold blanket of detachment. I want to draw him near again, but he's too quick - gets up from bed, a quiver running down his body. I can sense the anguish, the dread coursing through him, wonder what kind of memories have I brought up. But I can't help him if he keeps it all to himself, I can't comfort him if I don't know what haunts him.
"Where are you going?" I ask, hoping to bring him back.
"Shower," he says, and practically runs to the bathroom.
No, I won't let him be alone with the monsters I woke up in his mind. If he's to go down his own hell, I'm holding his hand through it. And I still want to hear what that man did to him.
