The flickering flames of Kyojuro's sword danced in the dimly lit corridor of the Infinity Castle, clashing violently with the writhing shadows summoned by the scarred Upper Moon. Each strike illuminated the battlefield in bursts of orange and black, casting monstrous silhouettes along the walls. Beside Kyojuro, Shinjuro's blade cut through the thick, suffocating mist conjured by the tendrils of the woman demon.
"Father, stay focused on her illusions!" Kyojuro called out as he dodged a spear-like shadow that nearly impaled him. His golden eyes remained locked on his opponent. "I'll deal with this one."
Shinjuro grunted in acknowledgment, his flaming strikes creating a glowing path through the fog. "I'm not about to let you show me up, boy."
The towering demon with the scarred face chuckled, his voice a rumbling echo that reverberated through the shifting castle. "Oh, how touching. A family reunion in the middle of a slaughter." His shadows coiled like serpents before launching forward, twisting into jagged blades aimed at Kyojuro.
"Don't underestimate the Rengoku family!" Kyojuro roared, meeting the assault head-on. His sword burned with unrelenting heat as he unleashed Flame Breathing: Fourth Form – Blooming Flame Undulation, spinning his blade in wide arcs to deflect the incoming attacks. The shadows hissed and evaporated upon contact with his flames, but the demon only grinned wider.
Meanwhile, Shinjuro faced the woman with the coiling hair. She remained calm, her mocking smile unbroken as her tendrils whipped through the air, carrying deadly hallucinogenic mist. The fog thickened around Shinjuro, distorting his vision and making it harder to discern reality from illusion.
"You're trembling," she teased, her voice melodic and taunting. "Are you afraid, old man?"
Shinjuro growled, narrowing his eyes. "The only thing I fear is you talking me to death." He planted his feet firmly and swung his sword in a wide arc, igniting the mist in a fiery explosion. Flame Breathing: Second Form – Rising Scorching Sun. The burst of flames momentarily cleared the area, revealing the demon's lithe form.
Her smile didn't falter. "Oh, you're a fiery one, aren't you? Let's see how long you can keep burning."
With a flick of her wrist, her tendrils lashed out, sharp as blades and fast as lightning. Shinjuro barely managed to parry them, each strike sending shivers up his arms. His muscles strained against the onslaught, but his resolve remained unbroken.
Kyojuro and the scarred demon exchanged blow after blow, their movements a blur of fire and shadow. The demon's Blood Demon Art allowed him to manipulate shadows into physical forms, and he used them with ruthless precision. From spears to whips, the shadows constantly shifted, keeping Kyojuro on the defensive.
"You fight well, Rengoku," the demon admitted, his yellow eyes gleaming with malice. "But how long can you keep up? The human body is so fragile."
Kyojuro gritted his teeth, his flames flaring brighter. "Fragile or not, the human spirit is indomitable! Flame Breathing: Fifth Form – Flame Tiger!"
With a powerful leap, Kyojuro charged forward, his blade trailing a massive tiger-shaped flame. The fiery beast roared as it collided with the demon's shadows, tearing through them and leaving the demon momentarily exposed. Kyojuro pressed his advantage, landing a direct slash across the demon's chest.
The demon hissed in pain but recovered quickly, his shadows forming a barrier to push Kyojuro back. "Impressive, but you'll need more than that to kill me."
As the battles raged on, Kyojuro and Shinjuro found themselves forced closer together, their enemies herding them into a tighter space. The woman demon's tendrils intertwined with the scarred demon's shadows, creating a deadly synergy that overwhelmed the two Slayers.
"Father, we need to combine our attacks!" Kyojuro called out, deflecting a shadow spear aimed at his head.
Shinjuro nodded, his eyes blazing with determination. "Don't hold back, Kyojuro. Let's show them the strength of our flames!"
The two Rengokus moved in perfect sync, their blades igniting the air around them. Together, they unleashed Flame Breathing: Ninth Form – Rengoku, a devastating dual strike that sent a wave of fire surging forward. The inferno burned through the shadows and mist, forcing the demons to retreat.
The scarred demon snarled, his calm demeanor cracking. "You're stronger than I anticipated. But no matter. This is far from over."
He slammed his fists into the ground, causing his shadows to surge upward like a tidal wave. At the same time, the woman demon let out a haunting laugh, her tendrils wrapping around her body as she unleashed a thick cloud of hallucinogenic mist.
Kyojuro and Shinjuro coughed as the mist enveloped them, their vision blurring and their movements sluggish. The scarred demon's shadows took advantage of their disorientation, striking relentlessly.
Kyojuro stumbled, his mind racing. This mist... It's affecting my senses. I can't see clearly, but I can't let that stop me. Father is relying on me.
Shinjuro fared no better, his vision swimming with ghostly images of his past. He saw Ruka's smiling face, the face of his late wife, and the countless comrades he had lost over the years. For a moment, his grip on his sword faltered.
"Shinjuro!" Kyojuro's voice cut through the fog like a beacon. "Focus! This is what they want. Don't let them win!"
Shinjuro shook his head, his resolve hardening. "You're right, boy. I'm not done yet!"
Drawing on every ounce of their strength, the Rengokus pushed through the mist. Kyojuro closed his eyes, relying on his instincts and the sound of the demons' movements to guide his strikes. Flame Breathing: Seventh Form – Flaming Esoteric Embodiment. His blade burned brighter than ever, cutting through the shadows and forcing the scarred demon to retreat.
Shinjuro followed suit, his powerful strikes creating gusts of wind that dispersed the mist. "You think a little trickery will stop me? I've seen worse in my sleep."
The woman demon hissed, her smile finally fading. "You're more troublesome than I expected."
The scarred demon growled, his shadows swirling around him protectively. "This isn't over, Rengokus. We'll see who burns out first."
The battle reached a fever pitch as both sides unleashed their full power. Kyojuro and Shinjuro fought with everything they had, their flames illuminating the dark corridors of the Infinity Castle. The demons, though powerful, began to show signs of strain as the relentless attacks of the Rengokus took their toll.
Kyojuro's movements were fluid and precise, his blade a blur of fire as he struck again and again. Shinjuro's attacks were raw and forceful, each swing of his sword creating shockwaves that rattled the walls. Together, they were a force to be reckoned with.
But the demons were not so easily defeated. The scarred man's shadows grew darker and more aggressive, lashing out with a vengeance. The woman's mist thickened once more, distorting reality and making it harder for the Rengokus to find their targets.
As the battle raged on, Kyojuro's voice rang out, steady and resolute. "No matter how strong you are, no matter how many tricks you use, we will prevail. The flames of the Rengoku family will never be extinguished!"
Shinjuro grunted in agreement, his eyes blazing with determination. "You hear that, you bastards? We're not just fighting for ourselves. We're fighting for everyone you've hurt. For Ruka. For my wife. For every life you've taken!"
The demons sneered, but a flicker of doubt crossed their faces. For the first time, they realized they were not fighting mere humans. They were fighting warriors with unbreakable spirits.
The battle was far from over, but the Rengokus' resolve burned brighter than ever. And in the face of that unyielding flame, even the darkness of the demons began to falter.
