Ice Prince

A week had already gone by, and things returned to normal for Nari. Teachers had stopped calling her back or requesting for her to wait behind because of her poor performances when it came to assignments, especially projects. It stopped happening ever since the incident at the auditorium, and the funny thing was that she didn't change anything. She'd given up long ago because she'd concluded that school just seemed to despise her more as the days went by. She didn't read more or work harder so the sudden change was quite weird.

However, even though things were back to normal now, the horrible grades she'd gotten had affected her GPA hugely since she wasn't really smart for her scores in tests to redeem her. Her class mentor, Mr Jang, had already told her to come see him during break time to talk about her grades. Nari had been sitted for quite some time when Mr Jang returned from the Teacher's lounge to speak with her.

"Sorry for the delay. As you know, Ms Chen, your grades and overall performance this past few weeks have been poor, and if you don't do well to improve greatly by the end of the term, well I believe you know the consequences. The school will get you engaged in school activities and extra school work all through your Christmas holiday. I'm sure your Dad wouldn't be pleased with that and neither would you", Mr Jang explained in a serious manner and Nari could only sigh.

She really thought that her good performance this last week would be able to overshadow her bad grades, but it seemed she had only been fooling herself. Her good performance was just average at best and that obviously couldn't cover up for weeks of terrible scores. 'Did I really do that badly?, but I've never failed this much before so what happened this time?', she thought, but those thoughts didn't matter anymore. One thing was for sure, she wasn't going to spend her Christmas holiday doing extra school, NEVER! She simply didn't know if she could survive that.

"Tell me what I have to do Mr Jang, please....I'll do anything! I just can't do extra school, I'll die if I do", Nari whined, and Mr Jang only shook his head at her exaggeration. "Why don't you start of by reading and listening more in school", Mr Jang suggested with an amused grin, seeing the sour expression on Nari's face. He knew how much Nari hated school. She would always constantly complain about it to him during their mentorship sessions, so seeing the expression on her face right now was no surprise to him. Infact, he enjoyed teasing her about school work.

"Don't worry, you don't have to read too hard, you'll get some help", he stated. "Help?", Nari asked with a confused face. "Yes help. I know how difficult it is for you when it comes to school, so I discussed it with the staff and the management and we came to a conclusion. We decided to let one of our brightest students tutor and help you with some of the areas you're bad in or finding challenging. It wasn't an easy decision to make since your tutor has a lot of upcoming exams which we didn't want to meddle with, but he surprisingly agreed and since he's the best academically, the school didn't have to worry and approved the idea. Besides, it's like a step forward for the SSL ( Struggling Students Learning ) program the school has in place. It would make a good experiment for the idea", Mr Jang explained to which Nari slowly nodded in understanding. At this point, she would be absolutely fine with anything that could help her escape extra school.

Her brows drew together once more as a question came to mind. "Uhm, Mr Jang, who's my tutor?". "Oh silly me, I can't believe I forgot to mention his name. The person who is going to be assisting you with extra lessons is Auston Chaemin Park from grade 12A. You two will be meeting every Wednesday and Friday during your last periods since that period will be free for the both of you", Mr Jang stated, and Nari just stared at him with wide eyes. She was in utter shock and simply couldn't believe what she was hearing.

Auston the great would be her tutor?. Auston was part of the crazy four, but the only people that Nari normally spoke to were Minho and Minjun. She had even spoken with Zane, but she had never spoken with this ice prince before. He always had such an intimidating aura, and to be honest, although Zane was cruel and harsh, Auston was definitely the most intimidating out of them all. She had tried countless times to approach him in the past whenever she was with Minho and the rest of the crazy four, but she always backed down in the end. So, she stuck to admiring him from a distance. He was a forbidden beauty that could be really scary with that aura of his sometimes.

She couldn't believe that she would be stuck with that beauty from time to time from now on. She was really nervous, but also very excited at the same time to be able to spend time with the smart adonis. Mr Jang spoke a bit more about the arrangement. He then informed her that she would be meeting with him starting from today, which was a Wednesday, once it was time for the last period to begin. Nari couldn't help but gulp nervously at the thought of their first meeting.

...

The remaining two periods flew by quickly, and it was already time for the last period which was a free period for Nari. So, Nari quickly packed up and headed to the classroom that Mr Jang had informed her that they would make use of. She had lost track of time earlier when she heard the bell go, and could only hope she wasn't too late since she had taken quite some time to pack up.

Auston was already waiting inside the classroom. He had agreed with the arrangement because he needed something to take his mind of his still recovering grandfather for a while. His grandfather's cold ended up being worse than he thought; since he couldn't stop worrying, and the crazy weren't free during this period, he'd agreed to Mr Jang's request of tutoring the history keeper's daughter. He really needed a distraction for the time being.

Auston was casually leaning on the teacher's desk with one leg over the other while his gaze was fixed on the door, when he saw the door knob move.

After a few deep breaths, Nari finally touched the door knob and opened the door. She was only halfway in when she suddenly froze at the sight before her. Auston was looking at her with those piercing jade green eyes of his. He looked so dashing and elegant, leaning lazily on the teacher's desk like that; his long night black hair slightly grazing his collar bone from his slightly unbuttoned shirt made him look all the more ethereal and godly. Nari felt her blood about to gush out of her nose, his visuals was simply no joke at all, and she had seen him too many times already.

Auston tore his gaze from her and looked down at his watch. Nari watched as he looked down at his watch and woke from her temporary daze as her head whipped to the wall clock of the classroom. She bit on her lower lip as she realised that she had ended up being more than a few minutes late. How could she arrive late on their first meeting and waste this ice prince's time?, what kind of impression is that meant to give him. She cleared her throat and began to apologise, "Aah sorry I'm late, I promise you it won't happen again", she said as she approached him, and Auston just remained silent.

Nari now stood in front of him, and seeing that he didn't say anything, she decided to switch to a brighter topic. "Hi, I'm Hinari Chen. Nice to meet you, and you are?", she prompted with an outstretched hand towards him for a handshake. Auston just glanced at her palm for a while before he straightened up to his full height, and walked towards the board at the center.

"Let's begin", he said as he got out a marker and started writing on the board. Nari on the other hand, stood there dumbfounded as she retracted her denied palm. She was actually amazed at how smoothly and effortlessly he had snubbed her. But then as she sat down, she realized that Auston probably felt that it was dumb for them to introduce themselves since they were already informed about each other. 'But it still hurts, he could've said something at least, a little curtsey never killed anyone', she mused with a pout.
