The Inheritance Bead: A Gift from Madam Chi to Prince Chang

Long Family. Madam Chi's room

Madam Chi was sitting on a chair in her spacious and luxuriously appointed room, quietly engrossed in a book. The room was filled with soft light, casting a warm glow on everything in the room. The decor was tastefully done, with antique furniture, a plush carpet and tasteful pieces of art adorning the walls.

Madam Chi was wearing a beautiful dress that accentuated her natural beauty. The fabric of the dress was smooth and silky, hugging her curves in all the right places. The dress was a soft peach color that complemented her skin tone perfectly. The neckline was delicately embroidered, revealing just enough skin to be alluring, but still maintaining an air of sophistication.

Madam Chi's hair was styled in loose waves, cascading down her shoulders in a silky cascade. The way the light caught the strands made them shine like spun gold. Her piercing blue eyes were sharp and intense, sparkling with intelligence and wit.

As Madam Chi sat in her chair, reading her book, her movements were graceful and refined. The room was silent, save for the occasional sound of Madam Chi turning a page or taking a sip of her tea. She sipped her tea from a delicate porcelain cup, and the way she held it was like a work of art in itself. Her slender fingers were adorned with delicate rings, each one a testament to her refined taste and sophistication.

It was not just her appearance that was captivating; it was the way she held herself, the way she spoke, the way she carried herself. She exuded an aura of grace and poise that was rare to see, even in the most refined of social circles.

Her maid stood behind her silently, ready to attend to her mistress's needs at a moment's notice. The maid was dressed in a simple, yet elegant uniform, her hair tied back neatly in a bun.

As Madam Chi continued to read, her expression softened, a small smile gracing her lips. The story she was reading seemed to be having a profound effect on her, eliciting an emotional response from deep within her. She seemed lost in the world of her book, completely absorbed in the story.

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door, breaking the spell. Madam Chi placed her book down and signaled her maid to answer it. The maid bowed respectfully and went to open the door.

As the door opened, a man entered the room. He was tall and handsome, with chiseled features and a confident air about him. The man who entered the room was none other than Prince Chang.

As he stepped in, he heard Madam Chi greeting him. "Ah, my dear nephew," she greeted him warmly. "I trust you are well?"

Chang nodded politely, his posture composed and regal. "Yes, Aunt," he replied in a respectful tone. "My servant informed me that you wished to see me. What is the matter?"

Madam Chi smiled slightly, a glimmer of amusement in her piercing blue eyes. "Patience, Chang'er," she said, gesturing towards the empty chair opposite her. "Let us first take tea and catch up on the latest news."

As Prince Chang sat down, his gaze momentarily drifted towards her bosom, but he quickly composed himself and focused on the conversation at hand. The maid silently served Prince Chang a cup of tea, and he took a sip. After some small talk Madam Chi came to the main point why she called him.

Madam Chi set her tea down and spoke. "Chang'er, my dear nephew," she began, her voice soft and gentle. "I have a gift for you. A present to commemorate your imminent departure for the immortal world."

Prince Chang's interest was piqued, and he leaned forward slightly. "A gift, Aunt? How kind of you. What is it?"

Madam Chi signaled the maid, who walked to the corner of the room and pressed a hidden mechanism. A small area the size of a small safe opened, and from it, the maid took out a box. With graceful movements, she walked back to Madam Chi and handed her the box.

After glancing at what his aunt had brought out, Prince Chang was surprised because he recognized the bead immediately. As a descendant of the royal family, his knowledge was vast and surpassed that of small family descendants like Qin Tian. As a royal descendant, Prince Chang had seen this type of inheritance bead before, and he instantly recognized it. He also knew that an inheritance bead glows only when there is actually a part of a cultivator's soul inside it. Otherwise, it appears just like an ordinary bead without any glow. Usually, a glowing bead does not mean it has a cultivation technique inside; it only indicates that there is a soul fragment in the bead. Whether the soul fragment contains cultivation techniques or not, no one knows. However, usually, no sane person would record useless things using this bead because separating a part of soul is very harmful to a cultivator no matter how powerful he is. And the bead is not particularly valuable, what makes the bead priceless is the information contained within.

Prince Chang became a little hesitant and asked, "Aunt, you should know how valuable this is. Are you sure you want to give this to me?"

Madam Chi smiled and said, "Of course, I know how valuable it is, and if I did not intend to give it to you, would I have taken it out? Chang'er, you should know your situation best. You and your eldest brother are going to fight for the throne. Even though it seems you have a fair chance of winning against your brother in this mortal world, the immortal world is different. There, you will face him for real, and you have to rely on yourself because you have to fight your brother in cultivation base, and you are already a few years behind him. So you need more help now than ever, and as my nephew, how can I watch the throne of the Azure Dynasty go to someone else?"

Prince Chang felt a wave of gratitude wash over him upon hearing his aunt's words. Madam Chi continued, "Besides, I do not know what is inside this bead, so I cannot be certain that it will be helpful for you. You can check it yourself to see if it is helpful or not." With these words, she handed the bead to Prince Chang.

After thanking Madam Chi, Prince Chang wasted no time and immediately touched the bead on his forehead, breaking it apart. As he did so, a milky mist emanated from the bead and entered his mind, merging with his soul. He closed his eyes, completely engrossed in the process, unaware of the malicious smirk that played on his aunt's lips.

Meanwhile, Madam Chi was delighted to have carried out Zhang Wei's request successfully. She pondered what kind of reward he would offer her. When he had asked her if she knew of anything that could hold a person's soul for inheritance purposes, she had immediately thought of the inheritance bead. Zhang Wei had then requested her to arrange two empty beads for him, which was no trouble at all for her. Now, she was Zhang Wei's obedient slave, willing to do anything to please him. Even if Zhang Wei requested an inheritance bead containing an inheritance, she would spare no effort to obtain it for him.

When Zhang Wei had handed her the glowing inheritance bead and asked her to give it to Prince Chang, Madam Chi did not question why. Even if it meant going against the interests of her nephew, Prince Chang, she would have obeyed Zhang Wei's command. As Zhang Wei's loyal servant, her only consideration was to carry out her master's orders.
