Niliah

Niliah did head directly for the temporary housing and chose the one on the outer edge. It was rather neat inside and there were several rooms. She entered one and plopped down on the cot inside.

It was comfortable. Though not as comfy as laying on Wind's lap.

She closed her eyes with a sigh, trying not to think of her friend. They were friends right? They'd spent so long together it would be sad if they didn't at least count as that.

Rolling onto her side she tried to push it out of her mind. She felt uneasy inside. And she didn't like it. Taking deep breaths she cleared her mind, trying to fall asleep.

An image rose unbidden in her mind. The scene of her friend being hugged by some woman she had never met before. What had been up with that?

He'd never even mentioned this woman. Not even when they were heading here. Was it so hard to give a note of warning? And tell them what relationship he had with the people here?

She did not think he had grown up here. No, she had always gotten the impression his childhood had consisted of a whole lot of roaming around. Just like his life since she had known him.

She hated this.

Not knowing much about him and having to make assumptions. Seeing him with another girl and not knowing what sort of past they shared. And then him just going off with said girl with no explanation.

She had thought, well, that he liked her. She could not think of any other reason why he always followed her around so persistently. It wasn't like he needed her or anything. He just followed her around. Like some overgrown puppy. With magic he had trouble controlling and a mind slowly deteriorating into madness.

After a while of laying there unable to keep her thoughts in check she gave up and got up. She wondered if Wind was done talking with that Mem girl. She hoped so.

She left her things in the house, though she kept her cloak. She hated people gawking at her wings. And it was the best she could do to hide them.

Wandering around, she tried to find Wind. It took a while, but eventually she spotted him. A smile came to her face as she headed towards him.

She paused though when she noticed he was still talking to that girl. After a moments hesitation she still wandered over, deciding to eavesdrop to find out what they had to talk about.

The two were standing beside of the river watching it. Wind was the one speaking as she got within range to hear, "…about it, I think."

"Alright, but this is bothering me." Mem turned to him with a frown, "Does she know?"

As he tilted his head as if in confusion, Mem's eyes widened and then she cletched her forehead in exasperation, "You mean you have not told her? Not a thing? By Xi'eli, Sylv, it's been how long? And you've never once even hinted? Do you have any idea what consequences could come by just your silence? You need to tell her."

"I don't see why it is such a big deal. Either way it doesn't change anything."

"You – you really don't understand do you? And I am so not gonna explain. Maybe I'll have one of the older men explain what this could cause." She sighed, and then muttered, "Idiot."

"I'll find an opportunity. She should get used to the idea. Though, I guess I just wanted to give her longer to be carefree."

Listening to all this, Niliah was a bit startled. She was pretty sure this 'her' they were referring to was herself. And somehow that made her too embarrassed to listen any longer.

She wondered what it was that Wind needed to tell her. And wondered also whether Sylv was his actual name or just another nickname.

But she felt a lot happier now. Maybe it was because they had been talking about her. And that made her feel like she was actually important to him.

Sylv's Corner:

"I have no idea what my sister is going on about! Isn't it better that Princess gets to live life carefree? I think so.
