Chapter 25: The Longest Night (pt1)

The woman was an elderly lady. But moved with surprising speed as she rushed to the front desk.

“Please, it’s an emergency! I can’t find my son anywhere”

She was frantic, mumbling words like she believed her son was kidnapped.

“I don’t know what happened. One minute we were together and I looked away for one second, just a second. I swear.”

She started mumbling again and everyone tried to ger her to calm down. But she lashed out at them.

“I need my son returned to me!!”

She described that her and her son were walking through town planning to buy more food. While she was looking over the wares that merchants were selling, she looked back to make sure her son was still there. But when she looked, he was missing.

“It was just for a second.”

She repeated the words like a mantra. Her eye seemed distant as she recalled the events.

“Who would kidnap a child?”

One of the mercs said.

“Why indeed” Monkey thought to himself.
