New World, New Me

"BEEP" "BEEP" "BEEP"

Lance leans over and slams his fist into the alarm clock accidentally sending it flying across the room. Groggily pushing himself up, a confused expression gradually appeared on his face. "Where am I?"

Glancing around the room, Lance begins to take in his unfamiliar surroundings, it was dimly lit, so he could only make out the basic shapes around him. Sitting up straight in an unfamiliar bed, he tried to remember everything he did the night prior.

Most nights he would spend in the quiet solitude of his orphanage in a dimly lit room, sat hunched over his computer. The soft glow of the screen casting an ethereal aura on his pale, contemplative face, but last nights routine was different, due to it being his 17th birthday.

Every year for his birthday Lance would sneak out of the orphanage and make the 8 mile trek to Covenant Park. This year was no different, climbing out of his room's window, he successfully snuck out under the cover of the night.

Following the path that had been ingrained in his mind ever since he was a child, Lance swiftly reached his favorite spot, a small cliff nested above a near endless stretch of water.

Laying in the soft grass, his eyes were transfixed on the vast expanse of the sky above him. In Lance's solitary world making friends with others had always been an insurmountable challenge, which often left him to find comfort and companionship in the animals around him.

Lance's choice of visiting Covenant Park, was due to the park's unique trait of having countless animals roaming it, this was also the reason for Lance's love of the place. Over the years, he had managed to pacify a large majority of the animals residing in Covenant, being able to quickly establish a relationship with even the most ferocious of them.

Underneath the twinkling night sky, Lance gazed upwards, patiently waiting for a shooting star to streak across the darkness. After 3 hours of waiting, a shooting star finally shot across the sky, in slight shock he closed his eyes and whispered. "I wish to live my life to the fullest"

Truthfully Lance had led an unremarkable life up to this point, and this fact deeply upset him, that's why more than anything he wanted a change, a chance to truly experience life, an opportunity to live every second to the fullest.

Lance lifted himself off the ground, dusting away the grass and dirt stuck to his clothes and began the long hike back to the orphanage as swiftly as one could.

"Tomorrow is my graduation, so I need to make it back to the orphanage in time"

Lance had made it back to the orphanage and climbed through his window without making a sound, eventually collapsing on his bed.

Snapping back to the present, Lance whispers to himself.

"If I made it back safely last night how come I'm in someone else's bed?"

Lance figured that the best course of action was to first find out where he was at and hopefully everything else would fall into place and make more sense.

Once he finished sorting his thoughts out, he climbed out of the bed and made an attempt to turn the lights on.

Lance sighed "This better not be a jail cell or something".

Moving his fingers around the ceiling of the room, Lance felt a string and harshly pulled on it, a brilliant light immediately engulfed the room illuminating it entirely.

Looking around the room now left Lance none the wiser than before. The room was only around 150 square feet in total, and the "bed" he was laying on was nothing more than a mattress laid out on the floor.

There wasn't much else to point out about the room, the walls were almost completely bare, with a faded dark grey accent, while the floor seemed to be just a slab of concrete. Lance thought to himself about how this genuinely might be the ugliest room he had ever stayed in, even if it was unintentionally.

There were 2 doors, one behind the mattress and one in front of it, Lance hoping that the door behind the mattress was connected to something akin to a bathroom, opened it with a jerk.

Surprisingly the door opened quite easily, showcasing a toilet, mirror and sink, along with some essential toiletries.

Lance examined his reflection in the mirror with a sense of self-assurance. His dark brown, curly hair cascaded in a natural, carefree manner, framing a face that exuded both charm and confidence. Standing at an average 5'11", his presence seemed to be more approachable than commanding.

"Maybe I should cut my hair when I get the chance"

While Lance wasn't known for his charming looks, for someone to call him ugly would be a blatant lie.

the only thing that was out of the ordinary in the mirror were his clothes.

"I think I would remember putting on such a unique t-shirt last night"

It featured a striking image of a fearsome bird-like monster with three menacing heads, each crowned with gnarled, jagged beaks. Its monstrous body was also adorned with an intricate array of menacing spikes that seemed to emanate an aura of danger.

The depiction of the creature was so lifelike that it genuinely felt like he was being stared at by a powerful monster.

The monster completely captured Lance's focus in an instant, and memories that weren't his own began to flood his mind.

"I've transmigrated to a new world?"

Lance had indeed transmigrated, to the unique world of Eller, a place filled to the brim with countless different monsters and various beasts, to defend themselves humans had to adapt and form covenants with the creatures of Eller to survive.

A covenant is a pact established via a soul imprint between a tamer and a creature that permanently links their souls together. Anyone can establish a covenant with a creature as long as their soul power exceeds the opposing creature's soul power, this gap could also be overcome with intimacy.

Luckily the body Lance had transmigrated into was a near perfect replica of his old one, unluckily the previous owner of this body didn't have much left to his name other than a place to stay until August 1st.

The previous owner of this body was also an orphan, but once he had turned 17 he was kicked out of the orphanage due to his many behavioral issues.

Having nothing other than the clothes on his back, he had to spend a grueling month on the street working part-time jobs so he could afford a place to stay. Even for the cheapest flat in town, It still ended up costing him 100 spirit crystals a month.

The currency of Eller was quite different from Earth's, instead of the currency being merely an item of monetary value, spirit crystals have another crucial quality, they contain mana, which is crucial to a pets development.

He had moved in late last night after another arduous shift of washing dishes, luckily the place came with a "bed", so he didn't have to collapse on the floor for his first night.

"I hope he didn't just die after he worked so hard to get off the street and even saved up all that money to buy this place" Lance thought frowning.

"Well if I've truly transmigrated then I must have some sort of system or gold finger to assist me, or else I'll end up just like the previous owner of this body"

Possibly due to Lance's thoughts a blue text box popped up directly in-front of his line of sight.

[Congratulations Host you've awakened your Growth System, your potential has become limitless, don't let this opportunity go to waste!]

[The Personal Attributes Tab has been unlocked]

[The Skills Tab has been unlocked]

[To open your system's interface, call out "Growth System"]

Lance stuck in awe of the various notifications appearing in his line of sight, softly began to whisper "Growth System"

As soon as those words left Lance's mouth, the blue boxes of text disappeared and were replaced by a list of 2 tabs.

[Growth System]

To further extend the tabs was the same process as opening the main system interface, so Lance decided to check his personal attributes first

Underneath his breath he whispered "Personal Attributes"
