The Existence Lurking Between Planets

All at once, everyone inside that very room held shocked reactions once the instructor had announced what he had to say, and Nathan also had to cover his surprised reaction when he heard what he said.

There was a period of silence before everything the instructor said could register in each and every single one of those student's minds, and once it did, the room erupted into noises, particularly those of panic and distress.

Although he didn't show it, Nathan was panicking most of all. The concept of exploring a different planet was completely foreign to him, so he was bound to panic at least a little.

"What..?! How can you only tell us about this now?!"

Many complained, and the some of the others murmured in agreement.

"Is this planet really that safe for us? There aren't many planets in this galaxy that can defend themselves from a Titan Beast! They are almost the size of stars."

"Our decision that we've made was necessary, and you'll all see why later."

"Also, the reason why we have to stop at this planet, is because of this."

Nathan wasn't able to see it properly, but he had pressed a button, which changed the hologram into something else.

Another planet, but this one was completely obliterated, and fragments of itself were scattered around the once large and mighty planet.

"This is the result of the emergence of a colossal Titan Beast, which, as you all know, is a beast that can cause catastrophes of unprecedented magnitudes, and in turn, everything on the surface of the entire planet, was wiped out."

"What's even more worrying is the fact that this Titan Beast had emerged from the depths of a planet near us, and it seemed to have been siphoning the power of the planet's core."

"It could even be possible that it's targeting us."

Nathan couldn't contain his surprise towards what he had just said.

"I really have to get used to all of this.. but, I just can't wrap my head around it.. somehow, I landed myself here in a spaceship."

He felt himself shivering in anxiety.

"How am I going to be able to survive peacefully with a planet devouring beast roaming around…"

"Adjusting to the new environment won't be too hard, and, as soon as the threat is eliminated, we'll leave, so don't assume the worst and overwhelm yourselves with fear."

"Also, make sure to prepare yourselves for a large change in setting, as it is on an actual dwarf planet, so we can expect for it to be a pretty big change of scenery."

They were all told to leave the room shortly afterwards.

He soon stepped back into his room and he even considered trying to make a run for it for a second, but it was a ridiculous idea, and he didn't know what would happen to him if he did.

He also tried comforting himself, and actually managed to convince himself that it wasn't going to be too bad, because, after all, he has to get used to this place.

He decided to take another look at one of those rooms he was in earlier, as he had took quite an interest in them.

He had arrived, and to his surprise, there were much more people in the room now.

"There's so many people here now.."

There were people standing around the glass tanks, who all seemed to be researchers and scientists.

They were seemingly unaware of the fact that Nathan was there at all, however, he had caught the attention of two other qualifiers just like him, that seemed to be helping them.

"What are you doing standing there?" One of them asked, they seemed to have noticed him standing there, doing nothing.

"..."

"Hi..?"

"Usually none of us are allowed in here, and that's definitely including you, so, are you here to help as well? If not, then.."

"I.. uh, then, I volunteer to help..!"

"Hm, then start by placing the heavy metal equipment on that side of the room." A researcher said, pointing to the opposite side of the room.

"Also, by the way, do you mind me asking for your name? I'm Athena, and he's Thomas, and we've known each other for a long time."

"Oh.. My name's Nathan."

"Wait wha..?!"

"So you're that guy from before.."

"What do you mean..?"

"You were known for being a crazed lunatic for some reason, and also, you were the same person who experienced a phenomenon firsthand right after qualifying, which isn't very normal, as you can tell."

"You're lucky to have even survived that."

"Also, everyone seems to think that was the reason you were able to qualify, which is why nearly everyone seems to have a grudge against you. If I were in the same position as you, I would be training, so that no one would be able to harass me."

"….Maybe I could do with a bit of-"

"You three! If you aren't gonna help, get out of here this instant!"

"I'm afraid we talked for too long, don't worry, we'll help you find your way around this place."

"Thanks."

Both Thomas and Athena gave Thomas small fist-bumps before they rushed away.

"Huh.. there's several things that I have to do here and I'm still pretty worried, but I think if I just follow them around for a bit, I'll probably be fine, for the most part."

"You there! Could you help put this in the next room over?"

Nathan walked over to where the researcher was and picked up the strange technological object, and he went onwards to the next room over, and what he saw was..

"…!"

Some kind of mech-suit being operated by some kind of fancy mechanical engineer.

A few moments later, he heard a loud screeching sound, then small sparks appeared, which led to the mech-suit powering off.

"Shit!" The man inside the mech-suit jumped out of it and shouted in frustration, "How come, after all this time, it still doesn't even work properly?"

After wallowing in his own anger for a while, he looked over and noticed Nathan staring at the mech suit with amazement and shock written all over his face.

He had even dropped the object he was carrying.

"Hm..?"

He walked over to gaze at it even more, he hadn't seen anything like this before, it was obvious that anyone in the same situation would be in awe.

"What the.. Who are you??"

He snapped out of his trance, and found the mechanical engineer staring at him as if he was in a trance.

The man sighed, he was definitely annoyed, but, for some reason, after taking a peek at the face of pure awe that was directed towards the mech suit, he gave in.

"Do you.. want to operate it?"
