CHAPTER 48: I won’t beg for the mercy of mortals

While he was still recovering from his fight with the fallen angel, Sirin suddenly heard footsteps behind him.

"Hello Vran." He spoke without looking behind him.

Despite almost all of the surviving soldiers being here he had only addressed Vran, and so only Vran responded. "We have orders to head to another location as soon as possible.so get up and come with."

Sirin stood up and stretched, spreading his wings while doing so. "You're not even asking about my amazing battle? How disappointing."

As he turned around, he saw that Vran, along with quite a few other soldiers, were holding bottles with some clear liquid. He narrowed his eyes as he already had an idea of what it was but decided not to address it.

"Fine, I'll come with." He sighed.

On their way back to the combat planes Sirin was no longer making a fuzz about anything. He way to tired and had used a lot of magic, which also didn't help. So, despite him trying to hide this, he was barely awake.

He did notice however, that the area was a lot darker than before now that the power source of these people had disappeared. Therefore, he wondered if the other outposts were also like this now. that would make storming in and killing everything that moved a lot easier, especially for his mortal companions.

Eventually they reached the planes and again Sirin was verry cooperative.

He didn't really have an idea of where they were going, but he figured that it would be fine. Even when his companions kept their eyes on him.

At long last, they reached an open area with a single temple like building. This clearly wasn't as much of a secret operation considering how the planes landed right in front of where they needed to go.

The entire group now moved towards the building. It closely resembled those in hell, down to the symbols engraved on the altar.

Sirin walked towards it, ignoring how most of the soldiers were now aiming their guns at him.

"So, you're that confident in yourselves now?" He asked as his fingers followed the lines engraved in the altar. "I hope you understand that sending me back now won't redeem you. Even the red god wouldn't care if a world gets overthrown by demons if you mortals let them in to begin with."

He turned to face the soldiers, a lot had made it here and even a few that he had not seen before had just arrived with more combat planes. He looked at the guns and the bottles with the clear liquid.

"Really, I didn't need to read any of your minds to know that you're afraid that just killing your enemies won't sate my bloodlust. And that now that you think you can manage it on your own you try to send me back to hell. You pathetic mortals that are bound to just one world couldn't even keep the machinery you summoned me with intact, so now you try to send me back the old fashion way."

One of the humans stepped forward. In one hand, she was holding a black triangle with a red, yellow, and blue gemstone. It the other she was holding a knife. She kept walking towards Sirin while softly chanting.

Sirin could feel some magic gathering in the altar, but even if she continued this for a week it would not be enough to send him back.

"You guys don't even know how to do this." Sirin mocked them. "Fine I'll tell you fools how it is done. Kill me! Its as simple as that! But I warn you, I will fight back. So now is your best chance to reconsider this. Now you guys decide if you let this go and might have a chance of my leaving on my own after I've gathered enough souls or attack me now and die for sure."

He glanced over the crowd in front of him. A strong wind howled over the no one's land, blending in with the chanting. Which making the entire scene seem surreal.

"Now come on then!" Sirin yelled. "Let's see if you can kill me after if fought an angel. Which one of you wants the first shot?"

He looked at Vran. "You know I won't beg for the mercy of mortals. Do what you want but know that you can't always win."

Vran narrowed their eyes and adjusted their aim at Sirin. They glanced at their commander, but he didn't do anything to stop them and blackly stared at the bone white creature in front of them.

Vran took a deep breath and pulled the trigger while their heart was beating so loud that they were certain that the demon in front of them could hear it as well. "Sorry hell spawn. But we can't let something as powerful as you run around freely."

Sirin caught the bullet effortlessly and stared disappointed at the piece of metal in his hand. "And here I hoped you wouldn't do it."

The other people immediately opened the bottles they had brought. The uneasy feeling Sirin got from that gave away that the liquid in the bottles truly was holy water.

"I understand that I can't hold all of you responsible for the actions of just a few people. You're only victims of the situation. So, I will give you all one last chance. Stand and fight to protect your comrades or leave now!" Sirin spoke while his tail flung from side to side.

The group of people looked at each other. Only a small number of people left and Sirin was pleased to see that these were the soldiers that had tried to teach him how to gamble. Though it pained him to see that the rest of the group didn't look as pleased that they left. If not for the fact that they didn't wat to get the demon out of their sight, they might have just shot them in the back of their heads when they walked away.

Sirin sighed. "Alright, lets get this over with."
