Let me ask you a question.

"Do people always act like their true selves in front of others?"

I am sure almost everyone's answer would be no.

Now let me rephrase the question.

"Do people always ACT like their true selves in front of everyone?"

Why would one have to ACT like his/her true self? Wouldn't it mean that it is not their true self if they have to act like they have?

Many people say that they wear masks. Smile all day to hide their pain, act like a clown and stupid to get attention, to convince themselves that they are not lonely. But are those masks not an integral part of them? Then which is true self and which is an act?

People lie with a smiling face, betray their 'friends'. Some speak truth but fail to consider the other party's situation and feelings, which ends in hurting both the speaker of truth as well as listener.

But there may be situations where the liar maybe a true friend and didn't mean to betray you, while the person who speaks truth maybe the one wanting to destroy your life.

The line between truth and lie, virtue and sin, good and bad, is almost non-existant. The colour we have been calling 'blue' maybe declared 'everything other than blue' and deciding which is true and which is false will become pointless. Some people say God is kind, some say God is cruel, but he can't be any of those. Kind God will wipe out everything that brings harm on us, which will be cruelty in itself, as the progress of world will stop and it will collapse. Cruel God maybe helping in the world to progress, which will goodness coming from a supposedly cruel God.

An act maybe cruel to almost everyone, but kind to a single person. It's opposite is also true. So, one should not wrap their thinking in single-minded thinking and accept that all virtues and sins are the qualities that make a creature, from someone as small as a human to the creator of everything, The God.
