Sound and light

The moment Dylan heard a voice pass him by like a person moving at the speed of a falcon, he stopped digging.

He then turns around, trying to figure out what that was. "What was that?" he said. "Is anybody there?" He said it this time in a frightened manner. Being cautious, Dylan would then go back to digging up the sand, but slowly. While digging, he would keep looking left to right. But would see no one.

Then for the second time, when Dylan lifted up a large amount of sand and threw it sideways, he would hear multiple sounds pass him by, this time not only the sound of a person but also a bell ring, a bird chirp, and a voice.

Dylan was scared for sure this time, as he didn't understand what was going on, . He would still continue his digging and keep hearing different sounds pass him by.

In a moment, Dylan realized that the source of these different sounds was just like the source of light from earlier—the sand itself.
