Confessions of a Drama Queen

It had never crossed her mind, that Mandy Gilbert, would live in her imaginary life when the boy she had a crush on since primary school, Justin Bedington, chose her to be his wife. Mandy knew Justin for as long as she remembered. She was only able to look at him through an untouchable wall known as ‘reality’. Justin is crazy rich, the son of a CEO in a multi-billion company in the U.S. Being surrounded by countless pretty girls, selected as head of the Student Council, brilliant, a social butterfly, and a highly dedicated person he was, didn’t make Justin got easily overwhelmed by that. Though he lived in a world full of loving gaze in any where he went, he gave zero care in it—even when almost half of the girls on this planet were head over heels in him. But who knew, his final choice was Mandy. Since their dramatic and ridiculous meeting, Justin thought that girl is amusing, funny, and known as a trouble maker girl who often gets over-dramatic at school. Justin first encountered her at a party, and from then on, he knew that this girl is one of a kind, so he chose her to be his wife. But who thought Mandy would live her new life in peace? The Drama Queen faced countless dilemmas revolving around Justin; from his sexy assistant, a gorgeous widow next to their house, and also, an obsessed teenager. Mandy couldn’t stand all the girls’ hysteria every time they were around him. Adding to that, the trust that was given by Justin, made Mandy feel as if she was ignored and invisible. In Mandy’s little mind, marrying someone of her dream would lead her to a life full of happiness—as seen in fairy tales. However, marriage life wasn’t as good as she thought. Problems after problems appeared unexpectedly. Starting from Justin’s anger toward Mandy who ruined the most important event in his life, being shunned by her best friend due to misunderstanding, to the revenge carried out by her school friends that put Mandy in danger. Mandy only had her journal—the only thing she could write her feelings, lies, and all the secrets. So, how did the drama queen overcome the problems she faced and admitted all the biggest secrets that separated Mandy from her loved ones?

Getting Ready

[Mandy's Diary at Senior Grade]

JUSTIN TOOK ME TO A DATE, YOU KNOW THAT?! DID YOU KNOW HOW I FEEL?!

Slapped me hard, I didn't wanna wake up!

I jumped up and down while twisting my body to the sound of the music on the radio, dancing until my hair was fluttering. To hell with Geometry homework, I wanted to feel the flow of happiness flooding my body's ions!

From the doorway, I saw Candice standing gaping at the mess in my room. I ignored her surprised expression, instead of pulling her hand into my room and closing the door a little tight. Her mouth was still open and her eyes were wide. Her eyes darted around the corner of my room. Seeing my scattered clothes, overturned trash cans, pillows scattered on the carpet, and so on.

"What the hell happened?" she asked, approaching with a confused sigh. "You're not on drugs are you, Mandy?!"

My eyeballs rolled upwards. I practically hit her head, causing Candice to growl in pain as she rubbed her head.

"I'm happy, Candice!" I shouted in her face, smiling like a fool. Ah, this didn't feel real! I could feel a swarm of butterflies tickling my stomach to the point that it made me want to laugh out loud all day, maybe even for a lifetime.

"So what?" Candice's eyebrow rose in skepticism, curious to hear my answer.

I bit my lower lip giving a seductive look. "Our Head of Student Council asked me out on a date."

It took a little longer to wait for Candice's reaction. She furrowed her brows, looking like she was deep in thought as she digested my words. Her eyeballs shot up to the ceiling as if up Brad Pitt was waving. Candice looked at me again with wide eyes.

"Which one?"

For the sake of Poseidon's sea! I want to scratch her, if only she wasn't my best friend. Snorting in annoyance, I pulled Candice over to my bed and plopped down there, lying next to each other and exchanging glances.

"Our Head of Student Council, Fields. Justin Bedington."

Candice opened her mouth again, wider, so I could make sure it would fit a baseball. Her eyes lit up in disbelief at my words, as if she heard Voldemort's voice before her eyes. She shook my shoulder hard, causing me to blink a few times.

"Really?!" she shouted in his usual shrill voice. It was a word he often—never missed—uttered every time he heard unexpected information.

"Yes! And now I have to get ready before he picks me up!!!" I jumped to my feet, tiptoeing like a ballerina over to my wardrobe for Candice's opinion.

Back there, Candice was on her stomach with her hand on her chin watching me. I took a few pieces of clothing that I barely glanced at. A peach-colored vintage dress poked through the other clothes as if calling out my name for me to pick up. My eyes caught another purple dress. I liked purple, I thought it's a sweet color. The purple dress was now in my right hand, while the vintage one is in my left. I turned my body, raising my eyebrows asking for input from him. Don't get me wrong, although Candice was a bit of a moron, her sense of fashion was really good. She landed her choice on the purple dress in my right hand. I shrugged while smiling broadly, agreeing with his choice. I threw the vintage dress in my right hand at Candice, landing right on her face. I closed my wardrobe again, examining the dress I had agreed to wear for tonight. I stretched my legs cheerfully and took off the dress on the back of the chair, then went into the bathroom to get ready. If necessary, I'd take a full three-hour bath for tonight, I mean what I said.

While in the bathroom feeling the warm water running down my body, I heard Candice change the song and start a conversation outside.

"How could someone like him ask you out? Didn't he even insult you a few days ago in front of his friends, Mandy?"

My lips curled into a crook at his question. The angel on my shoulder who is now flying with the devil beside the bath shook their head. Why did she remind me of that incident again, anyway?

"He just broke up with his girlfriend. Who knows it might help me win her heart." Sounds narcissistic. Let it be, who knows God is being kind enough to grant my wishful thinking. The devil in the bathtub laughed unbelievably hearing my thoughts, making the angel tap his wand on the devil's head. Again, I pursed my lips sideways. Crazy wishful thinking.

"If he hurts you again, just hit his balls!" Candice shouted again from outside.

I laughed softly, shaking my head. How could I dare to do that? I even don't dare to slap him. I hastily turned off the shower as soon as I was done with my bathing ritual, then grabbed the bathrobes and wrapped them around my body. I grabbed another towel to scrub my wet hair before opening the bathroom door and starting to clean up.

It felt like my heart was beating hard and jumped up to touch my mouth thinking about this date. Really.
