A usually instantly connected call, now just wouldn't go through.
Sigh!
Why must this girl choose to turn off her phone at this critical moment? It felt like the heavens were playing a cruel joke on Basil Jaak.
"Who's this police friend whose call won't go through?" Xenia Wendleton curiously asked.
Basil Jaak ruefully nodded: "Who knows what kind of meeting she's in, she even turned off her phone."
The three policemen saw Basil Jaak couldn't make the call, their arrogance instantly flared up again.
"Didn't you say you were going to find our leader? Fine then! Come with us to the station, our leader is there." The tall cop said smugly.
Basil Jaak raised his head and whispered to Xenia Wendleton: "Looks like we have to take a hard stand. Hold on to me, we'll charge out."
"Kid, you think you can outwit us? You're not even close, come back to the station with us willingly!" The fatty cop said, winking at the tall cop.
