The tiny ship of the Eks Corp Prince popped open in airless space, beside the airlock of the ship that had carried his Princess to the finish line.
Brendan floated out, fully suited up. His little vessel was too small for a standard airlock configuration. Its cabin was so small that it had been just as easy to essentially configure the whole thing as an airlock, with an atmospheric system management that could simply store the cabin's air away on command.
Adrian was also wearing a suit as he moved to the pilot's seat in the ship he'd helped build, and the cabin closed again, like a flower folding up for the night.
They hadn't donned their suits within that confined space, they had simply worn them the whole time, partly because neither of them had been completely certain that the small vessel's life support system would be up to carrying two indefinitely.
