Chapter 11: Joining the Pack

'What kind of fake story is that? No one would believe it' Noella said startling me when she mind linked.

My mouth broke into a wide grin with the realization that she was back.

'Heyy, well technically it's not a full lie. You know that so shut it and let me think'

'I guarantee you they're not buying it'

'And if they do?', I said suddenly taking it as a challenge with a smirk.

'Girl no! Oh this is sooo not happening. If they believe you then I swear never to call you dumb ever', she said.

I cut off my mind link with a smile on, I have to win this even if I have to do anything to make them believe me. I look up to see worry painted on the Alpha and Beta's faces.

"What? Why are you looking at me like that?"

My voice got louder as I got nervous again but they looked taken aback.

"We were just worried, we called your name 4-5 times but you didn't respond. Then you had this large grin so we thought you were in some kind of trauma response?", Beta Franco said with an arm stretched to calm me.

"Oh I'm sorry, my wolf finally woke up so she mind linked me and we spoke about my mate and pack", I whispered the last part.

Even if it was a lie, it got me thinking about them and the memories I wanted to forget. But gee… I became a master at lying. I don't want their perception of me to be what I experienced.

"We're sorry your past happened but it's not your present and it won't be your future so let it go and enjoy your today, this very moment and many others you'll have".

Beta Franco could be a life coach but wait… hold on, they believe me. I smirked at my wolf in our mind link and she just rolled her eyes.

"Would you like to join our pack?", Alpha's voice snapped me out of the mind link.

"Are you joking with me? You're not playing with me?", I asked feeling hopeful that they would accept me.

"No, we're not, you can join our pack. Our mates would love to meet you so it'd be an opportunity for you to make friends", Beta Franco said with a wide smile while mentioning his mate.

I wish I were as lucky as they were… No Adira, we are over that, don't think about him.

"Yeah but there are certain rules for a new wolf has to follow if they wish to join the pack", the Alpha said looking down at me and continued.

"First, you'll have to prove to us that you do not mean any harm", his alpha voice came out as he spoke making me flinch.

Harm?! Are they serious? I'm literally in this condition and at their mercy.

"It's not like we don't trust you", Beta Franco continued, "but you have to prove it to other pack members".

"They were not there when we found you lying bloody on our pack grounds. Sure they about it but they don't know you in person so some might think you were acting and your intentions aren't honest".

"You could be blamed for any incidents even if you weren't at fault so you would have to prove your loyalty to this pack".

Well that IS a very wise precaution.

"I understand what you're saying but how do I do that?"

"It's nothing difficult, you'll have to stay at a small cottage away from everyone and the packhouse . Everyone could see you there. Second, you can't roam pack grounds, talk to anyone except they speak to you and you're not allowed to train until your loyalty has been proven".

"It's normally done for a month and after, everyone votes whether you stay or not at a pack meeting".

I blink in amazement after the alpha finished speaking, it's not so hard considering considering my lifestyle as an omega.

"But what happens if I don't get sufficient votes in my favor", I asked the question that was on my mind.

"You'd have to leave", Beta Franco said and looked away when my eyes clouded with worry.

"There will be two guards with you at all times to watch your every move and report to us if they see anything suspicious. They will be hidden from you and will tell us their opinions about you during the voting", the Alpha continued.

"So are you ready?", Beta Franco asked.

"Yes!" I screamed before thinking and blushed in embarrassment.

They chuckled at my excitement.

"Okay, let's get going", Beta Franco extended his hand for me to take which I gladly took and got up with his arms as support.

"Also I'm not so old so no need to add my title whenever you're addressing me, just call me Franco. And you can just call him Carl since he forgot to introduce himself", Franco said and Alpha Carl glared at him.

I just hope that I can live happily now, this journey will be an interesting one.

*. *. *. *. *. *.

I changed with the help of a nurse after they went out to give me some privacy, the hospital provided clothes for people like me.

She left after and Franco came in to help me out, "Let's go doll".

We came out to the hallway then he loaded me into a wheelchair and took me to the parking lot. An orderly walked with us and took the wheelchair after he helped me into a red sports car.

"Where are we going? And what about Alpha Carl?", I asked as he started the car.

"To the packhouse…"

"I thought I wasn't allowed there", I interrupted before he could finish.

"Yes but at least let me finish my sentence", he sighed.

"Sorry"

"It's fine. Carl has to introduce you to the pack so your loyalty test can begin".

Ohhh, that makes sense.

I looked at the passing trees and the beautiful scenery in comfortable silence.
