Chapter 1: Dragons Descend
It was a calm evening, the sun was slowly going down, a slight breeze in the air, and a sputtering of clouds. A party was currently happening in a school building, cars parked out front and arrows pointing to a hall saying 'reunion this way,' directing to where a large group of adults are currently chatting, music playing, and everyone laughing and enjoying themselves as they catch up.
Outside the hall, a single figure is seen, his figure not overly fat but not thin, currently wearing a red stylized shirt and black jeans, short brown hair, and cleanly shaven in his early thirties, currently on his phone. "I honestly don't know why I even came to this," he types to his friend with a sigh, looking up at the sky and watching some clouds noticing something odd.
"Dude, come join us, we're all talking about what we've been up to since graduation," says a skinny guy, hair done back in a ponytail and a rat stash with some spattering of facial hair, wearing a button-up blue top and plain blue jeans.
"I'll be there now but do you see that? Something's up with the sky, I could have sworn that cloud was a goat with a number a few moments ago and now it's suddenly a scorpion," the larger guy says to the skinny one, only for him to laugh.
"Jeez, even after all these years you're still like this, John, seeing things that aren't there and engrossed with the supernatural and stuff," he says, shaking his head.
"Just because most don't see what's lurking in the shadows doesn't mean it doesn't exist. You can't see air normally, but we know it's there. Most of the supernatural is the exact same, and besides, there really is something there, just look," John says back, taking a picture and sending it to his friend that he was chatting to.
"At least I have one friend who believes me and has had her own experiences. Honestly thought you would at least humor me, Keenan," John snaps back at Keenan, only for his phone to vibrate, drawing his attention back to it.
"Haha, well, for now, just try to play nice and make the most of it, but I would feel the same. Would very much prefer us chatting or playing Diablus. -shrugging emoji and back pat gif- What the hell? Is that people in the sky? And what are those black dots? What the heck is going on there!!!" Is the reply on his phone, rather confused he looks at the picture he sent and indeed finds that there seem to be four figures in the sky in the clouds rather than the scorpion cloud: one woman in red oriental clothing looking like she is from an eastern drama along with tied-up hair, one guy in similar styled clothes, hair in a bun, and blue clothes with gold trim. The third, also a guy, but with an open bare chest, looking like a bodybuilder, wearing nothing but a loin cloth and two belts over his chest. The last one looking like some kind of furry humanoid, sunken yellow eyes, and baring his sharp shark-like teeth in a growl, and just as she said plenty of black specks under them.
"Wow didn't like there was a filter like that," Keenan says looking at the picture that was sent.
"There is no filter, though. I don't know what that is at all or how they're in that picture, but those black specks are a lot closer now, and something feels really wrong. No- What the hell are those!" John starts to say before yelling and pointing, getting Keenan to also look with widening eyes as the black specks become clearer and reveal themselves to be large black flying dragons that upon growing closer are visibly breathing out fire and burning things in their path, heading directly for the school.
Grabbing Keenan, John rushes to the doors of the hall and yells, "If you don't want to be burnt to a crisp quickly, find a building to hide in, nothing over two stories and preferably a room deeper in and away from windows and at least a room deep for a buffer, go check outside for yourselves if you don't believe me, but I'm getting the hell out of here and going to try and find a safe place till I can figure out at least what the hell is going on."
And with that, John proceeded to run out of the hall and away from the gathering to the main office, remembering there was a staff room connected to it that matches with what he told the others to look for. If they come here as well, he won't stop them, but he wasn't about to go out of his way for them. "It's freaking dragons! I've quickly found a place to hide for now. The building thankfully is made of brick, so I'm hoping it will withstand some heat, and it's deep in, hopefully enough to avoid a majority of the heat. Plus, it's narrow, so they shouldn't be able to reach in or get in easily," John quickly typed as he tried to make sense of what was going on, hearing the sounds of panicked screams outside and the starting of cars along with some smashing sounds.
'No doubt some people in their rush to flee hit other people's cars,' John thinks to himself, seeing some old classmates quickly rush into the room—five women and three men. None seemed to notice him, though, and he was content with keeping to himself and silent, to the extent of turning his phone from vibrate to silent.
"This is God's wrath, He's sent demons to cleanse the earth in fire, it's Judgment Day. We need to pray and hope His angels come to rescue us. It's the only way," a tall platinum-blonde white woman wearing a white dress says, her figure modest.
"Get a hold of yourself, Hana. I don't know what's going on, but I doubt it's anything to do with God or Judgment Day or whatever, think rationally!" yells a tall brown-skinned man wearing a white top, black jacket, and black pants, hair slicked back and dark eyes at her.
"Hey, leave her alone, Moose. She's just scared, same as everyone else here!" another blonde woman yells, her hair more a mustard blonde than platinum, wearing a black dress showing off her figure. A third dirty blonde nods alongside her, wearing a red dress and open black jacket, and a big boned woman, black hair down her back, wearing a flower-patterned dress, slowly moves in front of Hana to shield her from Moose.
"Look, we're all tense right now, people are panicking, but at least John spotted them and gave some advice. Else, who knows what would have happened if those things came, and we were unaware." A largely built brown-skinned man wearing a black top and black jacket with black pants, square-looking face. Next to him, a similar looking but shorter dark-skinned guy wearing a blue shirt and leather jacket with black jeans nods in agreement.
"Speaking of John, where the hell is he? He needs to tell us what's going on." Moose growls out.
"What makes you think he even has any answers to any of this?" The dark-skinned guy fires back.
"He saw them, told us what kind of place to hide at, so clearly he knows something! So we need to find him and get answers out of him," he says and points at the tall dark-skinned guy. "You, Steel, must hold him while me and Shay will get the answers from him," Moose yells back.
"And you girls, Hana, Stacy, Andy, Lucy, and Amy will go to a different room like the bathroom or something, no need to see this. Besides, he was always a loner, so I doubt any of you were close enough to him to really give much of a damn what happens to him," Moose finishes in a snide voice, ignoring the pissed off looks he was getting.
"And who made you the boss? You can't tell us what to do. We aren't kids in school anymore, asshole," yells the dirty blonde now known as Andy, with everything warming up and shaking, causing the mustard blonde Stacy to let out a scared scream. Hana starts praying more, Amy holds her, and the last girl, a short brown-haired pale white woman in a Jack Skellington top, fails to hide her large bust, black pants hugging her thighs and rear, a long loose fluffy jacket around her shoulders who had remained silent this entire time, comes right next to John but is clearly too absorbed in herself to see him. She proceeds to sit with her back to the wall, holding herself, clearly trying to calm down and muttering how none of this is real, as if saying it enough would make it true.
The guys, Moose, Steel, and Shay, visibly glare at each other and shake, seemingly ready to come to blows. "We don't have time for this!" yells Moose.
"So very, very true, you lot don't have time to waste with pointless yelling and all this. It's not fun or entertaining that way. Especially since you lot are among the lucky ones," a weird almost distorted voice says, causing everyone to jump and flinch back or scream. All focus now on this weird person who had shown up. They were dressed as a jester, a porcelain white mask over their face, fluffy sleeves ending in frills, long sleeves off its head ending in points and bells even curly pointed shoes with bells, its arms and legs longer than any normal person, and its entire outfit a mix of red, black, and white in diamond patterns and weird flowing lines that seemed to change constantly.
