Chapter 10

It took all of Darian's self control to not go after Leon and clock him one good, how Jaxon reacted to mistakenly drinking wine occupied his attention though, now that he thought deeply about it, he didn't think that he had ever seen the other drink alcohol.

So it was with worry that he used to study Jaxon, other than a splash of color on his cheeks, he seemed mostly alright, resuming his meal.

Darian shifted in his seat, how did it get so hot? It probably had everything to do with how Jaxon kept biting his wine stained lips.

Jaxon was trying to eat and escape from the dining room in one piece, next time, he would eat in his room.

It was hard enough to keep up with the Lunas' fussing, the fear of his hickies being found out and also manage to keep up with Leon and Darian, all the while managing to eat.

He would excuse himself from the table as soon as he was full, the pressure was a little too much.

Well, it's mostly the mortification of the red spots on his neck being found out and everyone's questioning gazes that was wearing down on him.

"What's that on your neck, Jaxie?" Hayden asked innocently and Jaxon went a bright red, choking violently.

"Oh, it's just a piece of lint." The brunette smiled sweetly, brushing it off without catching Jaxon's intense reaction.

Quickly he tried to play it off, reaching for what he hoped would be water this time to try to calm himself down.

But it would seem like some demon kept pushing wine into his hand because he had already downed another glass before he knew it.

Why were there so many glasses on his side of the table? Hayden didn't fancy alcohol either!

After the second mistake, he had had enough.

"Excuse me." He mumbled under his breath, pushing his chair back quickly and slipping out before either Dream or Hayden could recover and try to stop him.

Everyone watched in surprise as he practically dashed out, Darian frowning.

"Is he okay?" Dale asked, equally getting up, dinner was practically over.

Ian looked in the direction that the Head Beta had gone in, he hoped so.

Jaxon breathed easier when he got to his apartment, already feeling the effects of the alcohol.

He stumbled slightly on his way to the kitchen, drinking water would help dilute the alcohol content he had taken in which wasn't very much to begin with but his brain did not think that little fact was important.

After drinking water, he would go straight to bed and sleep it off, by the next day, everything would be back to normal.

Sighing, he waddled to his room, changing into more comfy and lighter clothes and rolling right into bed.

In no time, he was sleepy and he was starting to consider wine as a wonderful remedy to his insomnia or maybe, just maybe, it's because his brain and heart has been working double time ever since Darian and Leon tried to eat him up earlier that day.

But really, this was the second time today that he was getting on his bed and he already felt sleepy, that was an improvement.

His mind fogged over easily with sleep, drifting off without realizing.

He only slept till well past midnight, by sometime around one, he was rolling out of bed again, drunk as fuck and disoriented.

"Shit, I slept at my table again." He muttered to himself, his eyes mostly closed as he straightened out his sheets thinking he was at his office.

"Mae will kill me if she finds out that I… that I…" he bumped into a side table, the first and the second time before stopping. "Huh? When did that get there? I don… don't remember having that side table but that's not important." He reminded himself, going around the table in the dark, talking to himself as he made his way out of his apartment.

"What's important is that I need to get back home, it's probably late… like late - late… like very late…" he stumbled out of his front door, thankfully remembering to shut the door close.

"Can't have…" 'incomprehensible word' "...getting into my office and…" 'another incomprehensible word' "...things."

Suddenly losing his balance, he fell against the side of the hallway, using the wall to keep himself upright as he slowly trudged away from his apartment.

Heading somewhere that his sleepy and drunk brain was convinced that was his apartment.

He actually started in the direction of his office, unluckily everyone was fast asleep so it was just Jaxon wandering down empty hallways, mumbling intently to himself.

He stopped when he got to the door of his office briefly before turning his nose up at it and continuing his endless, late night trip.

He somehow wandered all the way up to Darian's apartment and fumbled loudly with the door before cursing loudly.

"Shit, I fucking forgot my key at the office, now I have to make the trip back…" he muttered darkly, turning around slowly to continue his wandering.

Darian was already making his way to the door though, he was a light sleeper so the ruckus that Jaxon made at his door was more than enough to wake him up.

"Who the fuck is…" he started to grouch, swinging open the door, only to freeze up when he saw Jaxon turning around to look at him.

Darian wheezed, choking on air at the other's unexpected presence. "Jaxo…" he started to ask but Jaxon cut him off.

"Why the fuck are you in my apartment?" He demanded with confidence, Darian's confusion only increasing.

"Wh...what? I don't think…"

"You know what, actually, don't answer that, I just want to sleep." He cut him off again, brushing past Darian into his apartment while the poor Head Warrior just stood at the doorway, thoroughly confused.

"Jaxon, I don't think you are in the right apartment…" he started to say when he finally got his bearings, looking behind him.

"Jaxon? Shit." He cursed under his breath, the Werewolf had disappeared.

Just where did he go?
