Mate??

DIANA POV

The vampire gazed at me with his terrifying wide eyes, looking hypnotized with the smell and sight of my blood. I looked at the wolves around me and their claws are rammed with vampire beating. The red wolf I helped is still recuperating from his injuries. At the moment, I realized I became an unlucky savior opposed to a vampire without a victorious possibility.

I took a deep breath and held my bleeding arm up. Instead of running away, I remained standing in front of the deadliest predator hungry for my blood. With high hopes and strong desires, I faced him hoping my plan would work. The sky rumbled as the gusty winds flew across my frail body.

In one smooth move, he receded from my sight and instantly appeared in front of me snatching my bleeding arm along with the heavy rain that started to fall. I tried to loosen his tightening grip, as the cold-blooded predator sniff my dripping blood.

"Diana!!", I heard Calvin shouted my name while Roman pins him on the large puddles of water on the ground. The roaring thunder made my heart pound even more, as I breathe heavily under the cold downpour.

In an instant, the vampire latched on my open wound and sucked my blood like a starving leech. In my mind, I was screaming and wriggling, but in reality, my voice didn't came out and my body stood stiff.

This is not a good plan, I thought.

I was feeling a little dizzy when all of a sudden, the vampire pushed me down to the ground as he started to act differently as if gasping for air. He fell on his knees and seemed like choking holding his throat with both of his hands. He crouched down breathing heavily as I watch him without blinking. Is it working?

I shifted my gaze on the other wolves where each of them were continously attacking and pouncing their fierce opponents with their claws.. Roman and Calvin exchanged kicks and strikes, giving no signs of conceding on both sides.

Looking back on the vampire who drank my blood, he continued gasping for air as he lower down his head with his fists clenched. He should be human by now. I moved back just in case my plan didn't work out.

The flashes of lightning didn't stopped the wolves to continue the clash. Eventually, the wolves took the upperhand. And with one final attack, a couple of vampires turned into ashes vanishing into thin air after their heads got cut off and limbs torn apart.

Roman managed to break Calvin's leg as the latter backed away looking defeated together with one last vampire along side of him.

The red wolf hurriedly came to my rescue, as he growl at the confused vampire who consumed my blood. I gaze at the vampire who now looked radiant with his rosy complexion. Clinging on the red wolf's fur, I stared at the vampire closely, noticing his nail beds turn pink, and his eyes turn brown. The red wolf was about to pounce when I blurted out, "Stop! He's changing!". He stopped as I commanded.

Highly strung, I watch the vampire shook in disbelief as he place his hand on his chest like feeling his heart beat. "What did you do to me?!", he asked furiously.

"You're a… a human for a while", I answered. The red wolf made an impression of sensing the vampire in front of us. Even the other growling wolves turned their gaze for a short while on the vampire who now seemed like a human. Only Roman, the gray wolf, didn't break his stare on the remaining vampires.

Outnumbered, I heard Calvin say, "I will be back for you Diana, like I always do". He squinted his eyes as they depart swiftly, leaving the human-like vampire who's trembling in fear. Probably, his vulnerability of being temporarily human makes him an exes baggage - weaker and slower. They might've thought that he's good as dead with the wolves.

Wet and shivering, I rested all my weight on the red wolf beside me. Am I exhausted from all the running? I deeply sighed as I clutch on my drenched clothes looking down on my wobbly knees. "Since when did I got myself in the world of wolves and vampires?", I whispered. I rubbed my neck as my eyes feel heavier. Must be something Calvin planted on my neck.

Roman shapeshifted back to his human form. He then held my waist close to him, distancing me from the red wolf. As he held my wounded arm up he asked, "Are you okay, Luna? That was really dangerous!! Let me check your wound".

I smiled at him weakly. Trying hard to look at his face, I held his cheek as I say, " I think something's on my neck". I flinched hearing a loud thunder, then his face started to get blurry until I passed out.

****

I woke up under the thick black covers of a big bed in a tiny room. The ceiling is too low, like it is within my reach. I sat up and realized that I'm in a camper trailer truck. My clothes were changed to a black button down shirt and I feel clean as I smell of lavender and patchoulli.

I saw Roman sleeping on a chair with his hands folded on his chest. Wearing a black shirt and blue denim jeans, he looked like he have freshen up too.

Wait a second.

DID HE CLEANED ME UP AND CHANGED MY CLOTHES?

No way.

I rubbed my neck as I don't feel the pricking pain anymore. My arm have already healed as well. Despite my head is still spinning, I forced myself to stand up avoiding waking Roman up.

As quiet as I can be, I passed by Roman until there's this old lady who suddenly appeared out of nowhere giving me a fright. "You're awake! You must be hungry", she cheerfully said.

Roman was awaken by her loud voice. Seeing me standing on my feet, he immediately stood up and shouldered me as he said, "You shouldn't stand up yet, Luna. You have to regain your strenght first".

"I'm totally fine Roman, please don't worry about me.", I replied removing his arm around me.

"Come along, dear! The food is ready.", the old lady said.

Roman held me on my waist as he led me to the dining area. "Uhh.. where are we? And… what happened?", I asked as I sat down.

"We're here in my trailer home, in our town.", Roman said as he serve me a glass of water. "You passed out after the vampires left.. One of them marked you on your neck.. something bloodsuckers do so they can track their prey", Roman said.

"What??", I shockingly replied while I touch my neck. "So how do we unmark it?", I asked.

Roman kept his lips tight, until the old lady sat down with us and explained, "You need to mate Luna. So you can remove the mark left by the vampire on you.. Alpha Roman imprinted on you.. So I guess… well you know what I mean.".

"Mate??", I gazed at the two who stared back at me blankly.

MATE?! I'd rather be hunted by vampires than to mate with Roman. Besides, how could they casually asked someone to 'mate' making it look like a coffee invite or movie date?

Then suddenly, the old lady bursted out laughing. At the same time, Roman slapped the table shaking his head side to side.

"I'm sorry Alpha!! I cannot trick the Luna that way!! I was just kidding, Luna", she said as she kept laughing.

"I told you to keep a straight face!!", Roman said as he roll his eyes at the old lady.

"Luna I'm sorry. Alpha Roman is just being naughty. The truth is there's a tracker scent planted on you. But that has been long gone after the herbs were applied on the puncture site on your neck. The silly Alpha convinced me to ride on his crazy jokes", she said.

"Ahh.. I see..", I forced a smile. That wasn't really a good job.

"Well.. did you consider? I can definitely help you Luna", Roman teasingly said.

I don't want be rude to the man who saved my life several times. But, I need to draw a line so he wouldn't dare to cross. "Not a single thought", I said.

Roman just laughed it off. "Anyway, Luna.. this is Kristia, my housemaiden. Kristia.. this is Diana, my Luna", he said as I look steadily at the old woman.

"Kristia…", I uttered.
