Just a friend?

DIANA POV

The death of a loved one will always be painful. Sadly, it's something that we all have to endure at a certain point in our lives. After all these years, I still feel Scott's voice trembling in anger and hate as he narrate his past. I understand his pain because fate stole his happiness to be with his parents when his life haven't even started yet.

My dad was murdered too when I was eight. He died saving us from great danger. It's surprising to know that Scott and I share something in common. What bothers me is that, we had the same life villain. Could it be that we had the same big bad wolf that killed our loved ones?

Still holding his hand, I tried my best to comfort him so we can cap the night with no sadness. With him being wholeheartedly honest, I'm astonished how he bravely expressed his true self showing a different side of him. I wonder if he opened up like this with other girls too.

He remained silent.

"No right words can comfort the pain of losing someone", I opened his palm and handed him one by one the three wild roses that I picked up earlier..

"One is for your mother, and one is for your dad.. this is me paying my respects to your parents.", his eyes squinted and little as his jaw dropped. I know it's kind of cheesy, but ain't flowers a sign of warmth and love for the dead?

"The third one is for you. That's to thank you for being honest and open to me. I know how hard it is, I said as I close his palm clutching the flowers.

Scott blushed a little and stared at the flowers. He probably didn't like it. I could've given him a vase of flowers but not today.

Scott looked at me in a much gentler face with teary eyes. Without a warning, he then pulled me locking me in his arms as he buried his face in my neck. I stiffened as I felt his warm breath on my skin.

We stayed that way for a while.

His body is so warm, I feel very much comfortable. Up close, I can feel his heart beat so fast. Gradually, I can smell something fragrant in him overpowering the scent of peppermint and tobacco that he usually have. I stick my nose on his chest and inhaled his fragrance. My heart skipped a beat and my knees felt weak.

'What just happened?', I asked myself.

"Don't you cry on me Scott. I'm going to puke", I joked as I tapped his back a few times with one hand, then pushed him away with his hands still on my shoulders. I awkwardly smiled as I look at him.

He chuckled at my remark as he pull his tears back. 'Did he look this attractive all the while?', I wondered in my mind.

"You know what, even if your girlfriend hates me so much, I'll still be your friend. And I'll genuinely treat you like one." I said as I remove my gaze at him.

"Just a friend?", he said with a frown.

"That's all I am.", I answered with a smile. He squeezed my shoulders a little bit and then let go.

"You should go, it's getting late.", He said as he pushed me to the door.

"Oh and by the way, you smell good up close. Good night, Scott"., as I gently shut the door.

Diana kept tossing and turning on the bed. Everytime she closes her eyes, she sees Scott. His beaming smile, his warm touch and even his gray eyes repeatedly flashes in her mind. 'Maybe I just feel bad for him', Diana mumbled.

Diana kept thinking that Scott depicted his dad's illness like some form of psychological condition that manifested extreme anger, strength, madness and monstrosity. She have seen it in some of the psychiatric patients in the hospital before.

There's one thing that made her sure about Scott's patchwork story. Diana thinks that what Scott perceived about his past as a young boy is limited to what he can understand that time, and what was told to him.

It's not that Scott's lying or making up stories, but, the fact that his father was the only person unharmed during the attack that led Apollo severely hurt and left Scott's mother dead, it is possible that his father is the alleged 'big bad wolf'.

The time that Alva, Diana's mother, told her that she was attacked by a big bad wolf and that her father was also killed by one, she thought that her mother was just exaggerating. But then, hearing Scott's story mentioning the same term, the big bad wolf, Diana wondered about the unimaginable possibilities and mythical existence. 'Humans that turn to wolves?', she shook her head in disbelief.

She thought deep and have schemed a connection between Scott's past and hers.

"Impossible.", she said as she lay flat on her bed staring at the ceiling in disbelief.

SCOTT POV

'NO WAY! Did she just imprinted on me?!', I stood at Diana's door like I'm struck by lightning.

"Diana!! What did you just say??", I knocked several

times and even pounded harder on the door as I lose my patience.

Still no answer.

"No one sleeps that fast!!", I said and still she ignored me. I covered my mouth hiding my smile and swept my hair back.

'Finally', I thought.

I left her bungalow with a smile cemented on my face looking like a fool. I smelled my shirt and I love how her scent lingered on it.

This is the first time I personally shared with someone the story about the death of my parents. Somehow, my heart felt at ease with her words. However, is she enough for me to forget all the pain and anger that has always been there?

As I walk out of the overwater bridge to the shoreline, I saw Christina who was speaking with two blonde guys and just left when I approached them.

"You look happy." she said in a serious tone.

"I am", I proudly said, and walked towards her.

"What are you doing here? Who are they?", I asked her as I mess up her hair.

"Why her?", Ignoring my question, as her eyes started to swell.

"She's my Luna, Christina", I said as I grazed her cheek and walked to the villa.
