Labor Day Aside

Labor Day was odd in some regards. You celebrated hard work by not working. However, after the hectic weeks she had experienced since she had been arrested for assaulting the princes, she could use the day off.

Xavier had been appointed as a caretaker, nursemaid, aide, bodyguard, knight and stewardess of the nine-year-old princess. It had taken some time, but she was finally settled in her quarters and had everything she needed to work. Since she was on holiday, she did the best thing one could do.

She rolled over went back to sleep when she woke in the morning.

Not that it lasted all day, it hadn't taken long before the princess had once again given everyone the slip. She threw on the bare minimum of clothes that made a uniform plus breastplate and set off to find the princess. Cursory investigation indicated she didn't make it out of the palace, not that this narrowed things down, the massive complex contained an incestuous hive of offices and functional spaces for the use of government.

Her magic wasn't weak, but until she finished growing mentally, she didn't have the same breath of strength she would grow into. It took longer to slowly expand her tracking magic to pick up the trail of the young girl. Looked like the rear garden the groundskeepers' quarters.

The palace had been a fortification at one point, and some of the older buildings had some remnants of its fortification history. The grounds keepers roof still had palisades and a solid stone roof, but the stairs had since been removed. It was there tucked away that the small princes sat alone.

"It's a bit too cold to be out here by yourself, your highness." It wasn't hard for the girl to vault to the roof, as it was only ten or so feet. The vines and loose stone structure made it simple for even a nine-year-old to get to the roof.

"Xavier!" Clearly startled she didn't expect to be found. Afterall before this 'knight' no one could find her. Despite the overwhelming love of her family, that didn't mean she never got punished. Especially when she turned half the conservatory into a smoke house.

"Here." Tossing the blanket that she had accidently belted between her breastplate when she had groggily gotten ready this morning.

"Hmph, I don't need it, it's too hot anyways" Protest aside she still wrapped herself up in it. Realizing that the spoiled brat just didn't know to be honest she slipped beside her.

"My old master would bash me when i screwed up." Recalling some older memories. "He was quick but fair i suppose."

"It wasn't too bad because afterwards at night he would tell me all the stories of how did things wrong." The girl next to her stiffened, digging herself deeper until all could be seen was lilac hair. Cute kid, ruffling her hair she elicited am angry snort.

"Hey, you're messing up my hair." Attempting to swat the older girls' hands aside, here gilded eyes flashed in sorrow.

"We can apologize together; you know your family cares more about you than some plants and buildings." Reassuring the girl, child Harmony pouted once more.

"Are you sure?"

"If not ill beat them black and blue I swear." It wasn't the first time, since she had walloped the first prince before the knight had figured out that it was in fact the princess older brother. Giggling lightly the small child seemed to perk up.

"I'll go if you promise to stay with me forever." Snorting, the girl must have heard that her contract was temporary.

"As long you keep running away, I suppose I can keep finding you." Nodding to the knight, the girl rolled to her feet. Snorting at the adorable ball, she picked up the young royal.

"Let's go, steed!"

"I'll wallop you too"

Just a small fluff bit for labor day enjoy.
