The end of the engagement

Inside Melody's room.

Melody was pacing back and forth in her room thinking about something.

'If I am Melody now, then that means I can change her path. I am currently fifteen years old so that means I have approximately three years until my 18th debut party, and also three years until the heroine of this novel shows up. Three years... ISNT THAT TOO SHORT??'

Melody was frustrated. She took a seat near her dressing table and looked at herself in the mirror. She really isn't dreaming nor hallucinating, she was indeed inside Melody's Symphony's body.

Melody then thought of something. 'the past Melody kept on bothering Izaac and the heroine, thus leading to her miserable death. If I, the current Melody, just ignore them and become a good and honest civilian and maybe live in some faraway property owned by my father.. Then...I can avoid death! That's right, as long as I ignore them then everything will be okay. Haha, I'm a genius'

However, that plan took a turn when Izaac Lancer visited the Marquis' mansion.

Melody was then dressed up to welcome him.

On the way to the guest room, where Izaac was, Melody was quite nervous. It was her first time meeting Izaac, the very charming duke who had made the villainess Melody fall for him.

The moment she stepped into the room, a handsome face came into her view. Izaac Lancer had dark brown hair, coupled with green Amber eyes and pale pink lips. He was indeed a handsome gentleman, even more, handsome than the idols she met back in her world.

"Greetings, lady Melody. It seems that you have already recovered, then please take a seat, I'd like to discuss something I've been meaning to tell you." Izaac's cool tone snapped Melody back to reality. It was at this moment that Melody remembered what today was. It was the day Izaac would annul their long-time engagement!

The past Melody was infuriated by the news and pleaded with Izaac to not annul their engagement, she made a massive fuss over it, which made the Marquis madder.

However, that was the past Melody, and she, the current one, would not do such a thing. She mentally prepared herself for what was about to come. She thanked Izaac, before taking a seat opposite him.

Izaac was at first surprised by her cooperative attitude, however, it quickly died down once he remembered what he was here for. He took a seat and sipped the tea that was prepared for him beforehand. Izaac then looked at Melody guiltily and was about to say something when Melody cut him off.

"Sir Izaac, let's annul our engagement"

The words that Izaac wanted to say were stolen from his mouth and were thrown in his face. Izaac was speechless for quite a while, he then opened his mouth again and was quickly cut off by Melody again.

"You are a nice person sir Izaac, don't get me wrong. However, I am not happy with this engagement anymore and I know the same could be said of you. So sir Izaac, If you have no more matters to attend to, then I shall ask my maids to escort you out of my house"

Melody then got up and was about to leave, when Izaac stopped her.

Throughout this conversation, if you can even call it that, Izaac was unable to get even one word in. He keeps getting cut off. Although this threw him off, he still remained respectful and bottled up his feelings.

"Do you need anything else sir Izaac?" Melody's voice snapped Izaac back to reality.

"No, nothing else" He replied.

"Then I shall take my leave, due to my body still being a bit too weak, I'm unable to escort sir Izaac personally," Melody said.

"It is fine, I'll escorts myself out. Please have a good rest lady Melody' Izaac assured her. Melody then left to her room.

A few minutes later, Izaac came out of the mansion and rode his carriage to his house, still flabbergasted about what happened.

News spread about the annulment of Melody and Izaac's engagement. However, the most shocking part is that Melody herself was the one who annulled the engagement.

The Marquis heard about it, and although he was curious about why Melody did that, he still did not look into the matter as if he really did not care at all.

Back in Melody's room,

She was snacking on some grapes while eyeing Thea, her trusted maid.

Thea and she grew up together so no one knew Melody best than Thea. She'd also defend Melody from the other maids and servants who bullies her.

"Thea, how long have you been serving me?" Melody asked.

The question threw Thea a bit off but nevertheless, she answered.

"I have been by miss' side for the past 10 years already" She bowed respectfully.

"Alright, from now on you're dismissed, never ever step into the mansion again"
