Chapter 04

Kaitlyn smiled at Mathias but he was too shy to even look at Kaitlyn.

I apologized. "I'm sorry, he must be too overwhelmed. He's only five, so he must be nervous." Kaitlyn slid a brownie over to Mathias and he ate that after eating his lunch.

I smiled, genuinely feeling that Kaitlyn was a good person. "Jayka, can I see your class schedule?" I gave it to Kaitlyn. Her eyes examined my schedule, gasping when she saw that we had most of the same classes every day.

"I have to go drop him off with Alpha again, he was watching him earlier while I was in class, then we can go to our next class together." I say and Kaitlyn nods. She followed me to Alpha's office, I open the door and set Mathias down where his coloring book was that the Alpha gave him.

I waved at Alpha, said hello, then grabbed Kaitlyn's arm and we walked to class, or, well, she dragged me to class which was not pleasant. When at the class I rubbed my arm and winced in pain as I saw it bruising before my very eyes.

"That's interesting, I never knew I could do that."

Kaitlyn saw my arm bruise as well and was shocked. "Why isn't it healing? Jayka, I'm so sorry I never meant to hurt you." I smiled because I knew she didn't mean to. Sitting in my seat in class, I could feel three sets of eyes staring intensely at the back of my head.

I turned around to see two males and one female staring at me, which was making me uncomfortable. Kaitlyn looked back at what I was looking at and sighed. "That's Jake, Dylan, and Abby. Steer clear of Abby, she's totally in love with Alpha Ryan and if she sees you talking to him, she'll get the wrong idea and make your life a living nightmare."

I laugh because my life already was a living nightmare. "I'd love to see her try anything, but I definitely will steer clear of her." Kaitlyn smiled. We were in English class. Kaitlyn swore the teacher had it out for her; he gave her two times the amount of homework than the rest of us and I widened my eyes.

"How do you manage to do all of that?"

Kaitlyn sighed and put it in her backpack. "My dad is the best pack doctor there is, sometimes he helps me, sometimes he doesn't at all and I do it on my own." I feel bad for Kaitlyn so I invited her over so I could help her after school, which Kaitlyn excitedly agreed to.

I could feel that a friendship bond was forming between me and Kaitlyn. It made me feel happy, in my old pack I literally had no friends. It made me upset sometimes at first, but eventually I got used to being alone all the time so this was definitely a change.

It was finally time for training. Alpha came out to watch, I saw him in the corner of my eye talking to my mom, my dad still helping a few freshman train. The Alpha called me over, my mom going back on the field to help my father. "I left Mathias with Mar. He seemed to like Mar more anyway. Where did you find him again?"

I turned towards the training field. "In the forest near my house. His mother's name is Kat, she was Alpha Andreas's mate, but she rejected him because she was in love with a human who later got murdered by one of Andreas's men."

Alpha Ryan's face twisted. "That's why he's as ruthless as he is. No one should ever be rejected by their mate, especially an alpha, it hurts them more than a regular wolf." I looked at Alpha and smiled sadly, it was a few days until my birthday and I hoped my mate didn't reject me.

Abby walked over to me and Alpha, throwing herself at him and kissing him. I could smell that she wasn't his mate, so what the fuck was she doing? She could get killed for that.

"Get the fuck off of me Abby."

Abby whimpered "But Ryan I love you."

He got her off of him. "I have a mate. You're not my mate Abby." I stared at them.

Abby fake cried and pulled me somewhere to talk. She pulled me towards the training field, but stopped in the middle of the way and punched me in the face, knocking me backwards. I stood my ground as she shifted, her bones cracking as she transformed into her blonde wolf.
