Ancient Books

As we continue to sort Shemer's things. I was able to find more valuable things from his space. From armors, artwork, enchanted gears, different kinds of gemstones and minerals, ancient instruments, pieces of jewelry, potions, and runes.

He has a variety of these things. But my most favorite of all is his collection of ancient books, magic books and he even has holy books. Holy books are the books that are written by the gods.

This kind of book is very priceless because only a few of these were bestowed by the gods on humans.

"Shemer, you should follow this list I made for sorting your things." I gave him the paper.

"Understand master. If you want, I will pull out all the books I have so you can choose which you want to read first."

"Thank you, Shemer."

He then pulled out shelves, boxes, and even gave me a ring full of books about medicine and alchemy.

"The shelves are where I mostly put the ancient and magic books. While in the boxes are where the holy books are put."

I then scan the shelves and read the titles of the books. I saw books that were written during the era of the 5th emperor.

Rulers of the Revolution, Fools of History, Preys and Rulers, and Elegance of My Country were written by the same author. She is also known as the Knowledge Keeper because of her great contributions to the empire.

She was the first female official to be ever assigned as the Prime Minister. Her knowledge gave a great boost to the empire's economy. Her name was Hildegarde Lutgard.

Thank god Shemer has a copy of her books.

When I ask Uncle Allaster, why do her books were not found in the empire anymore, I was shocked by his response.

"She burned all the copies of her books, little Evie."

"Why Uncle? According to the records, her books are full of knowledge and information."

"Maybe you will be baffled when I tell you the reason."

"What is it, uncle?"

"She said that it damages her reputation."

"Why would it damage her reputation?"

"Because all the men that will read her books will be too afraid to court her because they cannot surpass her knowledge."

When I heard uncle's explanation, I was super dumbfounded. Her reason is simply too ridiculous!

"Shemer, how come you have a copy of Hildegarde's books? I thought she burned all the copies."

"That old woman cannot hide it from me. I took a copy of all her books before she even publishes them. That time I still have the power to duplicate myself.

That's why I was able to travel without using my identity as Bathor's last crafted weapon. Master, do you want me to tell you the real reason why she burned all her books?"

"Tell me."

"The real reason is that she is afraid that no one will be willing to marry her. Hahaha. That woman's pride is very high. When she was still young, she will not put anyone in her eyes. But as days passed, she realizes that maybe because of her attitude that no one is willing to be with her.

That's why, after burning all her books, she resigned from her prime minister post and married a marquis far away from the capital."

"I cannot simply understand her reason at all."

After arranging all the books from the shelves, I then proceed to the boxes. I first choose to open a box with a violet cloth covering it. After opening it, I saw a book that was glowing with golden light.

The book's title is The Codices of Vision.

It was a book written by Mysmera, The Goddess of Destiny!

It was a book about how a person with the blessing of the goddess of destiny can use her power to foresee the future.

It is not at the level that he or she can see everything in the future, but just bits of vision.
