Not a Good Sign

"I'll help you make breakfast."

"No need, just wait here."

Rosetta stood in the living room, carefully observing everything. Her heart was filled with excitement, eagerly anticipating the day when she could move in and live happily with Ethan.

But good dreams don't last long, and she never expected them to be shattered within minutes.

Amelia descended from upstairs in her pajamas, walking with sleepy eyes that blinked slowly.

"Can we have breakfast now? I'm hungry."

As soon as she said this and locked eyes with Rosetta, an awkward silence fell upon them.

"Hello, may I ask who you are... I didn't know we had guests. Sorry about that," Amelia said, looking at Rosetta, then glancing at her own sleepwear which fortunately reached her knees and wasn't too short.

Rosetta, who had just been lost in her daydreams moments ago, felt a shock as if she had been struck. She stood there dumbfounded, not knowing what to do.

This woman is the secretary? They live together?

"What's wrong with you? Let me go upstairs and change my clothes first," Amelia looked at Rosetta, feeling puzzled by her dazed state. She quickly ran back upstairs to freshen up.

Ethan brought the last of the fresh milk to the dining table, but Rosetta remained in a daze. She had sat down on the couch after standing still just moments ago.

"Alright, we can start eating," Ethan said, looking at her with a smile and nodding before heading upstairs.

After a while, both of them came out dressed in formal attire. Rosetta stared directly at Amelia, examining her from head to toe.

"Come over and join us for breakfast," Ethan called out to her and sat down at the dining table with Amelia. Rosetta had been alone for about fifteen minutes and found it difficult to breathe. Everything happened so suddenly, making it hard to accept the situation.

She had never heard that Ethan had a girlfriend, let alone that they would be living together so soon.

"Hello, I'm Sophia. Mr. Frost mentioned you before. You're his cousin. Join us for breakfast," Amelia greeted Rosetta, her attitude warm and her face full of smiles. However, Rosetta's demeanor left her confused. Serious and without a hint of laughter, she stared at Amelia earnestly.

"...Are you his secretary?"

Even though it felt awkward sitting at the dining table, Rosetta managed to ask the question despite stumbling over her words. After all, she had come here this morning for this purpose and naturally should seek clarification.

Amelia paused for a moment, smiled slightly, and noticed that Ethan had just picked up some slices of beef for her. The scene seemed particularly glaring to Rosetta and made her feel upset.

"Oh, no, I'm not his secretary. I'm the director," Amelia replied, glancing at Ethan, then smiling at Rosetta.

"Ms. Sophia, why are you here so early?" Rosetta asked.

"I... I had to work late last night, so I didn't go back home. I had to stay here for the night," Amelia, now assuming the role of Sophia, replied. She didn't want to expose her relationship with Ethan. Although she found the girl strange, it was quite evident in the girl's eyes that she had a fondness for Ethan. By saying this, Amelia hoped to avoid unnecessary troubles.

Rosetta listened and imagined the scene of Amelia coming down in her sleepwear earlier.

She stayed here due to work and only for one night. But why did she have the sleepwear with her? Rosetta speculated in her mind, suspecting that Amelia must be an audacious woman who willingly approached Ethan without any sense of shame.

"Oh, I see. Ms. Sophia is really hardworking."

"It's only natural."

The short breakfast felt heavy-hearted. Finally, Ethan left to accompany Rosetta, and Amelia drove to the office alone.

"Ah, it looks like I'll need to find a place to live. This girl is not someone to be underestimated," Amelia murmured silently as she sat in her office.

Ethan arrived at the company and went straight to Amelia's office. A worried expression appeared on his usually proud face. In a gentle and calm tone, he asked, "Are you okay? My cousin is just like that. Please don't mind her."

"Why would I mind? She's your cousin and clearly infatuated with you. I'm genuinely happy for you," Amelia replied.

Upon hearing her response, Ethan became even more unsettled. He knew that Rosetta's behavior was inappropriate, especially when she clung to him and acted spoiled.

Ethan sat on the side, sighed, hesitated as if wanting to say something, but eventually stood up and walked out.

Amelia felt inexplicably upset. Did she truly care so much about other women getting close to Ethan?

However, Ethan had made it clear that he wasn't interested in Rosetta. Moreover, he treated her exceptionally well. There was no reason for her to feel unhappy.

Ethan entered his office, sat down at his desk, and let out a deep breath. His face displayed a somewhat troubled expression.

He hadn't expected that just as he thought Bella wouldn't come anymore, another girl, Rosetta, appeared. He could reject any opportunity for contact with Bella without any concerns.

However, he still had to take into account the life-saving favor he owed to Rosetta's mother. When gratitude mixed with relationships between men and women, it became more difficult to handle.

Ethan wasn't a heartless person. He didn't want Amelia to think of him as fickle or even heartless. After taking a moment to compose himself, he picked up some documents and began working.

Occasionally, he glanced at Amelia through the surveillance monitor. He noticed her sitting there, often appearing dazed and lost in thought, burdened by heavy concerns.

The morning quickly came to an end, and the two of them left the company together, heading home.

"What do you want for lunch?"

"I think I need to find a place to live."

Amelia looked at Ethan seriously, her tone and expression indicating that she wasn't joking.

Ethan felt a slight sense of unease. Seeing her lost in thought throughout the morning, he hadn't expected her desire to move out. But was it necessary just because of Rosetta?

"Move out? I disagree."

His tone was firm and serious, causing the room temperature to drop several degrees.

"Why? Moving out would be helpful for my current position and work."

Amelia looked at Ethan, perplexed. She simply wanted to find a house where she could live peacefully. Why was he so opposed?

"Besides, seeing your cousin's relentless nature, what should I say if she comes again while I'm still living here?"

"But can't we just separate based on these reasons? Finding a new place is fine, but we can move in together."

After hearing this, Amelia suddenly realized what seemed strange. It was because of this that he had been rejecting her idea.

Perhaps living separately could have its benefits. Being together every day might make us grow tired of each other, so separating could potentially deepen our feelings.

But can I really get used to living alone? Amelia asked herself.

"It's possible, but I don't have the money to buy a house. Shouldn't you be the one buying it if we're going to live together?"

Although it was difficult to bring up and asking for a house seemed a bit tacky, the current situation called for it. At the end of the day, since we are already registered, what difference does it make between his property and mine?

After hearing this, Ethan pointed at Amelia and smiled, his lips curling up. "So, you want me to buy you a house. No problem. You can choose the location and layout freely. Or should I give you one under my name?"
