Ace Wang (2)

- flashback continues -

After the kids played around for 2 hours or so, Ace got pretty close with Shang and Mei

He started smiling and laughing more while they were playing outside without knowing his parents were so close to tears, their eyes already moist because Ace was an introverted quiet kid and didn't smile nor play as much as other kids due to his status/family job as his family was a powerful family consisted of secret agents, hackers, and government officials making them have to put up guards against others for their safety

All three were called back in by the Lin and Wang parents as they have been playing for a while and it was snack time (a custom the Lin Family has if there were guest and the kids were playing outside for a while)

When the three went back inside, they went to the dining room where snacks were present. All the adults were in the living room chatting as the Lin and Wang family are close due to crossing each other due to work with Shang and Ace being close friends as well

The three were munching on cookies while chatting, Ace particularly spoke with Mei a bit more but it did not go unnoticed by Shang who was happy that he could get a potential brother! Although they are only 10 years old, all three were child geniuses so they think more maturely at times unless they are hanging out with friends/families.

After resuming play time, they played for another 3 hours before they were called back for dinner time. The Lin family asked the Wang family to join dinner with them which they accepted making Ace happy as he gets to spend more time with Mei *cough* Mei and Shang

Sadly, Ace had to leave but before leaving he hugged both of them with Mei and Shang waving while watching their friend leave their house to go back to his home

After that day, all three, sometimes Lily comes depending if she has time, would hang out and soon, the 4 became inseparable friends who were always together

Of course, all good things have to come to an end, as when they were all 14, Ace had to move to America for personal and family work reasons leaving the trio who would stay in China really sad, Mei being the saddest as during the past 4 years, Mei and Ace became best friends

Of course the 4 made sure they kept in touch but in recent years, they had lost communications when Ace officially became a hacker and had to remove all his personal info including removing himself from his best friends for his and their safety

- flashback ended -

Kaito called for the 5th time "Ms. Lin!"

Finally Lin came back from a trip down memory lane and said, "sorry, continue what you were saying"

Kaito nodded and just ignored her daydreaming and said, "as I said earlier, you may not be able to convince him but maybe it is worth a shot too"

Mei nodded and asked, "do you have his contact information?"

Kaito nodded and asked, "do you have paper I can write his info down for you?"

Mei nodded and took out A4 paper along with a black ballpoint pen for him to write down Ace's info

Kaito finished writing everything down and handed it to Mei

Though Mei first wanted to double-check he is really innocent, she secretly didn't start questioning him as she wanted Ace's info but no matter how she tried in the part, she never got it so she took the opportunity since it was handed to her on a silver platter

Mei took back the paper and pen and asked, "would you mind answering some questions?"

Kaito said, "No I do not mind, ask away" as he knew she always double-checked the victim was truly the victim in the case, making her unique as most lawyers do not care who is truly guilty but Mei does intriguing him and making him want to know more about her

Mei: "besides the proof, you said Mr. Wang *cringes for calling her childhood best friend so distantly* is there any way to prove your innocence?"

Kaito: "I have 3 witnesses who are my best friends who were with me at the time and day although I know some calls it invalid as they are my best friends but trust me they have morals as well, once you hear their names any doubts will be gone"

Mei hummed and asked, "can you really go against the family? I heard they are a strong opponent so if you are scared, I suggest you find a different lawyer"

Kaito shook his head and said, "I am not afraid of them, I am just worried about troubling my family and best friends"

Mei nodded and started analyzing the whole situation thinking if she should agree or not as she still isn't 100% sure if he is lying or not

Mei said, "I will try to contact Mr. Wang first before formally accepting the case, unless Mr. Wang doesn't find the info or you are not the victim"

Kaito nodded as that sounded reasonable and stood up to shake hands with Mei

"Thank you so much for considering helping me. You already have my number so if you will take up the case, let me know. If you do I will be forever grateful"

Mei just nodded realized that Huang Wei never came with the drinks so she gestured for Kaito to leave and said, "Mr. Ito, I have some work so please show yourself out if you can"

Kaito nodded and left while Mei raised her brows and used the intercom to call Huang Wei into her cabin

Huang Wei came in not even a minute later

"Xiao Mei, sorry I didn't bring the refreshments, your mother called me to make sure you will attend the blind date arrange" Huang Wei said

Mei just groaned and gestured for him to leave which Wei left chuckling lightly as to not make her super embarrassed
