Heart attack

"Ethan's point of view,"

"Mr. Woods, how may I help you?" When I heard her voice, I had the impression that she was trying to exact revenge on me on that day.

"I'm interested in purchasing your land." I responded by clinching my fists.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Woods, but I'm unable to offer you anything." Although I couldn't see her face, her voice gave me a good idea of how she was feeling, and her chirpy tone made it plain that she was enjoying her triumph over my helplessness.

"In exchange for the land, I'm willing to pay you whatever amount you request." Finally, I attempted to have a straightforward conversation with her about selling the land.

"Ethan Woods, do you believe that money can buy everything? How dare you use the money to manipulate me?" Her voice was so loud that I had to keep my phone away from my ear.

Why, after hearing me, did she get so angry? What did I say wrong that made her so angry?

"Yes, Miss Parker, I firmly believe that anything in this world can be purchased with money.

Do you not believe that?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.

There's nothing more annoying than a girl. She is speaking to me in a tone that I find intolerable right now, but I would stop at nothing to gain that land since it is so vital to me.

"No, I don't believe that at all. After hearing your haughty statements, I'm even more certain that I will not sell the land to you. You can use the power of your money to control whomever you want, but not me." After saying this, she ended the call. How rude of her to end my call.

This is the first time someone has disconnected my call without thinking about the consequences; usually, I disconnect people's calls after listening to their drivel.

Oh, so it bruised your pride when she cut off the conversation. My subconscious began fueling my rage once more.

Put your mouth shut; you and that spoiled Stella Parker need a lesson.

Do I make sense? I posed a threat to my subconscious. Finally, my threats had an impact, and my subconscious stopped favoring Stella.

"There is an emergency, Mr. Woods." My rage had not yet totally subsided. Steve walked into my office without knocking at the same moment.

What's wrong with this guy, anyway? I'm sick of explaining to him the basics, but he isn't getting it, and I don't know why he's having a hard time understanding what I'm saying.

"Steve, why do you keep bothering me, and what is your issue?"I glared at him.

"Mr. Woods, I apologize, but your grandma is in the hospital." He swallowed his saliva.

"What?

What happened to her?" I listened to him and was abruptly horrified.

"She experienced a heart attack." He responded, adjusting his spectacles.

"And now you're informing me of this major news." I yelled indignantly.

"Mr. Woods, as soon as I received the news, I reached out to you right away."

"Idiot. Quit talking nonsense and immediately reschedule all of my other appointments."

Wasting no time, I grabbed my coat from the chair and headed to the hospital.

What if something were to happen to my grandmother? My parents died in a car accident when I was 14 years old, and ever since, my grandparents have been raising me. My grandfather has always loved me more than my father, and my grandmother has never allowed me to miss my mother.

Even though I understand that old age brings a host of medical problems, the thought of them passing away leaves me with a chill.

"Doctor, how is the health of my grandmother now?" It genuinely shocked me to see the doctor emerge from the ICU.

"Mr. Woods. Calm yourself; your grandma is no longer in danger. Therefore, there is no need to panic." The doctor comforted me.

"What led to my grandmother's heart attack?" I asked with an anxious tone.

"She is undoubtedly quite concerned these days, and her health is suffering because of her overthinking."

Over thinking?

What is my grandmother so worried about now that her health is deteriorating?

"Doctor, may I now meet my grandmother?" I gave the doctor an optimistic look.

"She is now sleeping, but after she wakes up, you can meet with her. However, take extra care to ensure that she doesn't experience any stress at this time." The doctor counseled me and then left. I was waiting for my grandma to awaken from her slumber while seated on the stool next to her bed.

I told Grandpa to go home and get some rest. He didn't listen to me right away, so I ultimately had to use my grandmother's blackmail tactic and tell him to rest at home. The times I'd spent with my grandma played out in my head like a movie.

What if my grandmother, like my mother, abandoned me? Without my grandparents, I cannot imagine living a single day of my life.

Today, the same 14-year-old child that I had buried inside of me for years came out when I saw my grandma lying in this position in the hospital. I experienced the heartache of losing my parents firsthand, and I don't want to go through it again.

"Why are you crying, Ethan?" I realized I was crying like a helpless child, remembering my past when I heard my grandmother's tremulous voice.

"How are you feeling right now?" As I asked, I wiped the tears from my eyes.

"You should not worry about me; I'm okay." She was attempting to appear entirely normal with her facial expression, but I could tell by her frail voice she was currently quite weak.

"What exactly is bothering you so badly, Grandma?" Although I know that the doctor has prevented me from doing anything in her presence that would stress my grandmother, I still want to know what exactly is making her anxious.

"Ethan, my son. I'm concerned about your future." She said this as she struggled to sit up in bed.

"Concerned about the future?" I furrowed my brows and inspected Grandma's face. I do not know what she is trying to say. Already, my future is safe. After all, I am the biggest billionaire of New York, so why should my grandmother be concerned about me?

"You will be all alone in this world after your grandfather and I leave you, and I never want you to experience that kind of loneliness again." Her facial expressions were solemn.

"Do you intend to leave me and go somewhere else?" I know that she is discussing leaving me, but my heart is not ready to accept this truth.

"You are well aware of what I am referring to." She added, raising an eyebrow.

"Okay, I get it. Please avoid stress, or your health may deteriorate." I attempted to soothe her.

"I want you to get married as soon as you can, Ethan."

What?

Marriage?

And me?

No, how can I get married? This is not possible. I hate women. Spending a few hours with a woman is punishment for me, and my grandma wants me to marry a female and spend the rest of my life in prison. I can't get married, not in a million years.
