«You're... You're right,» Vera said. The villagers were ignoring them.
Since she already knew they weren't simple humans, and since she was more focused on the details, she had missed the way they treated her.
It had a simple explanation: they didn't want to attract their attention. And, also, they wanted them to leave as soon as possible with the least interaction. However, she hadn't even noticed because she was focused on her own version.
She had a lot to learn as a detective. If she found a new creature, she would need to use her brain only to solve the case. And, also, she was still investigating Neven. Using her knowledge was a double-edged weapon. On one side, it could help her solve it before the start. On the other, it made her blind to other explanations.
