CLEO'S P.O.V

I briskly turn away and sit on the wooden bench situated outside the dinner next to a couple to mask myself.

"You have to teach me how to play snooker some time. Because this will be the last time I am going to run away from a girl with my tail between the legs" Shane grumbles and Winston chuckles.

"Did your ego took a nasty hit? That's a first" Winston snorts in amusement playing with the straps of his helmet.

"Shut it motherf*cker! As if you haven't been in this predicament before. Remember that time when you were still a annoying little runt and tried to ask out a girl much older than you? You didn't even have enough cash to buy her flowers. F*cking sh*t" Shane swore before he guffawed boisterously.

"I remember but I don't think you do. Because she thought it was adorable that a 7 year old wanted to buy her flowers. She even pecked my cheeks and bought me ice cream" Winston grins as if reminiscing the memory and Shane's smug expression drops.

I bite back a smile. I really did screw up Shane's game tonight. His ego-meter must have broken down.

"Hand over the helmet" Shane scowls and literally snatches it out of Winston's hands who didn't even try to hide his smirk.

"Nothing to say in your defence, Marshall?" Winston ridicules Shane with a silent laugh.

"Start the bike, Kade. The party and those girls aren't going to wait forever" Shane scoffs before swinging his leg and climbing the motorbike.

"What about your parents?" Winston frowns and Shane's mouth tenses in a straight line.

"F*ck them" Shane spits out in a contemptuous manner. Winston sighs before revving the motorbike and speeding out of there.

I lean back on the uncomfortable bench and ponder over their conversation.

This was weird.

***

"This is so bada*s" Eva Anson cackles like a maniac high on sugar. Maybe I shouldn't have told her that I sent the follow request to Winston. I am thoroughly regretting my decision right now.

"Maybe we should make a profession about it. You handle the main work and I'll do the promotion. Would you believe me if I told you that I have already decided upon our outfits? Black biker jackets. Sexy dark tinted ray bans. Distressed jeans with two holsters. One for a shotgun and another for a-" she looks straight at me with her hands imitating a gun and an eye closed in concentration.

"RE-VOL-VER. What say? Huh? Huh?" She nudges my shoulder beaming at me with a sinister look gleaming in her eyes. I unconsciously take three steps away from her.

"Are we preparing for an initiation in some gang?" I look at her dubiously and she rolls her eyes exasperately . Have I missed something? Should I have done a background check on her? Could she have gang affiliations? This chica is hella crazy!

"B-b-but" she whines with a pout and I cry inside. How did I get stuck with this.

"You are staring to creep me out, Eva" I state and she immediately sobers up.

"Couldn't you have told me sooner" she glares at me not before crossing her arms across her chest as if I was the one to blame here.

"I am sorry. I thought telling you would be out of line for me, your majesty" I alluded at her sarcastically with a roll of my eyes. Eva nods her head evidently happy with my apology. I guess sarcasm doesn't exist in her dictionary.

I check the time on my wrist watch and see that I have five minutes to get to class.

"Time for me to withdraw, my liege" I tease and wave my books in her face when she furrows her brows at me in bafflement at my sudden leave. Her eyes widen when she catches on and grabs my hand to check the time for herself.

"Ah f*ck! I gotta hurry or Miss Peters is gonna bury me alive" Eva sniffed before bidding me goodbye and scrambling towards her class.

"I should do that more" I grin before setting my watch back to it's original time. Bets are she is going to be the first in the class because no student in their right mind would hurry to a high school class 20 minutes prior.

She is going to be so f*cking pissed when she learns about it. Till that time I can buy myself a cupcake to celebrate what a fantastic human being I am. Terrifying yes, but fantastic.

But as luck would have it, I couldn't take even five steps before Shane Marshall entered the hallway with his other football buddies in tow. What do they think they are? Prince of the dungeon and his retainers?

I turn away from them and poke my head in my locker to keep my face hidden. This guy makes me feel like I am some sort of a safe-breaker with my head inside a locker like this.

As the voices get nearer I push my face even farther. I was sure that just an inch more and my nose will slam into the metal wall of the locker.

I feel a tap against my shoulder and it takes all in me to not groan out loud. I turn around in slow motion and almost lose my balance when I accidentally step on my shoe lace. Why the f*cking hell do I always forget to tie them up?

"It's...you. From yesterday. At the diner. Right?" My face twists in a grimace and I force the urge to knock his head with something sharp aside.

"I think. That guy. Who couldn't play snooker? Right?" I reply back in the manner he did and his smile falters a bit at my words.

"You make it sound that I intentionally refused to play instead of not being able to play" Shane replies back with a tense smile and squinted eyes threatening me to play along.

"I made it sound exactly like how it should sound" I swallow back a grin as a hearty laugh emerges from his buddies.

"Did not" Shane counters back stubbornly like a damn mule. His eyes squinting further. With the way they are I am sure he is partially blind.

"Did too, Shaney. It's no biggie. Happens to the best of us" I pout at him in sympathy and pat his arm mockingly.

"Dude I thought you had the girl eating right out of your palm" A guy scorns Shane with a taunting smile and high fives someone behind me. My right eye twitched a little at his comment. He turns his eyes on me and leans forward.

"What do you say to netflix n' chilling with me instead, babe?" He winks at me with his mouth curled up in a suggestive smile.

I smirk. "F*cker, your mother should have swallowed you"

His face hardens at the offensive insult and he bares his teeth in a snarl and gets in my face. I scoff.

"Human mannerisms please. Save your animalistic behaviour for when your b*tch returns" I shove his chest with force and he stumbles back. One last wink and I walk away with every single eye watching me with mixed feelings. Admiration, resentment, awe, indifference, you name it. Whichever feeling it may be. They still couldn't help watching me.

My phone pings with a notification and I dig it out from the front pocket of my jeans. A huge smile spreads across my face when I see Winston's name pop up on my screen.

Kade Winston accepted your follow request.

And now it's time for him. Winston better be watching his back.
