When Matthew pulled up at Elise's apartment, Brian was dressed in a navy blue suit with a black collared shirt and tie. Stepping out of the car, he gazed around the parking lot.
"All seems quiet, sir," Matthew said, almost like he was trying to reassure him.
Brian nodded slowly. He would feel much better when his family was back in Miami, safe and sound. He scanned the shadows of the buildings again. Why was he being so paranoid? He had never been like this before. Sure he was careful sometimes, but he never triple-checked his surroundings or second-guessed Matthew's assessment. Tonight, he was, constantly. It was like he was expecting Freddy Krueger to jump out any second.
Brian shook his head a little. You got to relax. Let everything that happened at the office disappear from your mind.
Stepping into the building, he paused gazing at the elevator. After a moment he proceeded past the stairs and to the front desk.
"How long until the elevator here is fixed?"
