Chapter 4- Long Road Home

A couple of days before Team Red's mission in Boston, we find our favorite anti-heroes settling down in their private jet. Which they dubbed "Red Eye" over time.

"Aww man! I can't wait to be back home! Maybe we can even visit our old track, Ivy!" Zack exclaimed, as the crew boarded the plane.

"Not so fast, bro! We still owe Eddie that money! Which means we're still being hunted down!" Ivy said, cutting down Zack's excitement.

Zack let out a sad sigh. "Way to ruin the mood, sis."

"I believe Ivy is correct. Since you didn't pay on your behalf, he is still after you." Shadowsan pointed out.

"Yeah, well, they still haven't fixed their car yet. We need to keep things on the down low. Even with the Sterlings." Carmen said, going straight into "leader mode".

     Zack and Ivy nodded. "Right."

    Shadowsan only grunted in agreement.

Once she figured everyone understood their task, Carmen switched back to "friend mode". Getting comfortable in her seat, since that's where she'll be for the next few hours.

Carmen smiled at Zack and Ivy. "Anyway, while we're on the way, how about you two tell more about Boston? It's been a while." She said, referring to when the siblings hid her behind some crates and told her about Boston's history and all that.

Carmen still didn't understand why she didn't know about Boston, since it is one of the most historical towns in American history. But, she let it slide, since she now knows about it.

Ivy snorted. "I'll fill in when I can."

      Zack nodded. "Me too."

"I can help." Player said from Carmen's laptop.

Carmen smiled at the hacker. "Go ahead, Player."

"Boston is home to many many historical places. But some of the most famous are Paul Revere's house, Boston Latin School and New College which is now known as Harvard." Player explained, typing on his keyboard.

Ivy smiled. "Ohh yeah. I once had a friend who went there." She said, visualizing the day said friend left to go to Harvard.

"Oh..really? Where is she now?" Player asked, with a gleam in his eyes.

      Ivy looked down. "She..uhh..she-"

"Died." Zack finished, sharing the sentiment with his sister. "A few years ago."

Ivy tried her best to blink back her tears. She couldn't cry now. Not with Carmen and Shadowsan around.

"Oh, Zack, Ivy, I'm so sorry.." Carmen said softly.

Shadowsan sighed. "I am too. I lost my parents long ago, I can imagine the pain you must be experiencing." He said, recalling the events of his early years when he was being raised by his brother Hideo.

Ivy sniffled, leaning into Zack's shoulder, as he hugged her tightly. She looked at Carmen and Shadowsan with appreciation.

    "Thanks guys.."

Carmen picked up her laptop and took it with her to where Zack and Ivy sat. Joining in on the hug. She pulled the siblings in, and their heads rested on her shoulders.

Carmen looked at Shadowsan and tilted her head, as if she was saying "come join us".

Shadowsan sighed, reluctantly walking over to the trio (plus Player, digitally), and hugging them all.

A few hours later..

It was finally time to get off the Red Eye, as Team Red departed from their hug and went to get their luggage.

Zack and Ivy were the last to get theirs, which was understandable. Since they both did just bawl their eyes out out of remembrance of their friend.

Carmen gave them both a sad smile. "You two ready?" She asked, glancing at the beautiful city before them that was Boston.

Zack and Ivy bobbed their heads. "Yup!" They said in unison.

Carmen turned to Shadowsan. "What about you?" She asked the Japanese man, only to get a nod as a reply.

Carmen sighed. "Alright, crew." She murmured, loud enough for only the others to hear.

"Let's do this."
