Barely five seconds after I saw those emotions sparkle in Liam's eyes, they disappeared like it was just a figment of my delusion. I couldn't help my confusion, but I didn't have the leisure of dwelling on it.
My body still trembled and my breathing was shallow, not to mention my heart pounding like it was going to explode any moment from now. I tried to steady my breath, inhaling more quietly and exhaling quicker than usual.
All my efforts were futile in a couple of seconds as Liam grasped my chin to make me look at his face.
"Don't ever make the mistake of going against my word again, little Abigail." he rubbed gently on my chin. "You're going to be my wife for a year. I don't intend on sharing within the year. If there's one thing I take seriously, it's my investments."
As his hand continued to caress my chin, his touch both gentle and demanding, I could barely concentrate on his words. All I could think of was the kiss we just shared.
