A Flashback around June 26, 2015

A flashback around June 26, 2015 :

"THAT'S IT! JUST LIKE THAT!" Nakamaura yells from behind me.

Nakamura and I are in an abandoned warehouse owned by the LA division of Hallyu. She is teaching me how to shoot a gun. Earlier that month, I had asked her to teach me how to shoot with the same accuracy as she did.

____

"Nakamura. Teach me how to shoot and fight like you."

"You do know that only a select few are allowed to carry guns?"

"So? You're one of them right? And plus there's no rule against teaching."

"Hmmm, let me think about it."

"Pleaseeeee." I beg. "I'm already 15 years old. All the other elites have a weapon that they use except for me."

"Then how are you an elite?" She asks, mischief gleaming in her eyes.

"I can fight well." I pout.

"Exactly. Yoshiyuki is the same way."

"But I don't want to be the same."

"Even if you learn how to shoot, Youngsun is the elite whose weapon is a gun. You'd be the same as two people then."

"But I wanna learn." I whine.

"Okay, tell you what. When I find time, I'll teach you. But, you'll have to learn how to fight better from Yoshiyuki. As an elite, you can't just focus on a new skill, you have to refine and polish one you already have."

"Hai! Wakarimashita*!"

____

In the warehouse, Nakamura had set up boxes of different heights with cans and bottles meant as targets for me to shoot. It has been almost a month since we started training together, and by this time, I had become quite skilled with a gun. Not as perfect as Nakamura, but getting close.

"This is the first time I've taught anyone." Nakamura says while drinking a can of coffee. We bought drinks and snacks from a Japanese convenience store before coming to practice for the day.

"Really?" I ask in between bites of my snack.

"Yeah." She says turning to me. "I'm glad my first student is you."

I begin to blush. "Whatever."

"No really! I mean it." She pauses. "You've become like my little sister… given you used to only come to me for money." She laughs.

"Well, it is your job." I point out.

"True. True."

"Do you think I can become as accurate of a shooter as you?" I ask Nakamura.

"Of course! If you continue training this way of course you can!"

"Then does that mean everyone can too?"

"Hmm. Not necessarily. There are those who can practice and practice until they're good enough, but the accuracy and growth you've shown me this past month seems to surpass hard work, meaning, you have talent."

"I have talent?"

"Yes!"

"Nakamura, do you have this talent too?"

"Well, you didn't ask me to teach you because I was average now did you?"

"True." I grin taking a big bite into my snack.

Nakamura said I'm like her little sister… I giggle happily to myself.
