AMELIA POV

It's been a few months since I moved to California, Los Angeles specifically.

I stayed mostly to myself and focused purely on work and friends. Video calls with Jodie and Jasmine almost became a daily thing.

They both were a little hurt that I left so abruptly but understood that I needed a change and that a new environment would ultimately be better for me.

I'm sitting on the balcony of my small apartment, it was nothing more than average but I wasn't a fan of flashy houses anyway, and soak up the spring sun.

My phone rings, buzzing against the wooden counter of my kitchenette. Groaning, I get out of the sun's warmth and walk inside.

I feel a little better when I realise that it was Jodie who was calling.

/"Hey,/" I answer going back onto the balcony.

/"Hey, you need to come to New York!/" She says urgently.

/"What? Why?/" I say, more panicked than I expected to be.
