Accident.

Nancy towed Miranda and shopped her way from the first floor to the third floor. They even bought several clothes. By the time they were done, they had bought five carts' worth of items.

Massaging her temple as she stared at the carts, Miranda queried, "Nancy, don't you think you're buying a little too much?"

Nancy let out an awkward laugh. "It is. I like them all." Nancy then hooked her arm around her shoulders. "Let's go, I am famished."

The two then left the mall together. After having dinner in a nearby restaurant, the two headed to the underground parking lot. However, right at the entrance of the parking lot, an Audi was speeding toward them. Their eyes widened at it, but Nancy was the first to come back to her senses. She shoved Miranda aside and shouted, "Be careful!"

Meanwhile, Richard stared blankly outside the window. He lit a cigarette for himself and placed it between his lips, his eyes smouldering slightly.

He frowned when his phone rang.

"Brother, Sister got into an accident" George's worried voice came over the phone.

----

Miranda did not know how long she spent waiting outside when two police officers came to her. The female officer politely said, "Hello, we're the officers in the District. We're here to find out more about the details of the accident. Your friend was the one in the accident, right?"

Hearing that, Miranda took in a deep breath before she wiped away the frown on her face.

Right as Miranda was mulling over the possible future, her phone rang and made her jump in surprise. Shaking, she dug out her phone from her bag. When she saw the name on the screen, her eyes reddened, and something in her snapped.

Picking up the phone, she choked out, "Hello?"

"Are you hurt?"

"Richard, Nancy....she was in an accident." She burst into tears.

"Wait...."

As the group of doctors walked out of the operating theatre, rushed up to them and asked anxiously, "Doctor, how is my friend?"

Nancy was her best friend and her family. While she could get money out of anybody with her face and her words, Nancy was that one person that she could never lie to. In this cold and unfamiliar city, they only had each other to rely on.

"Your friend is fine. She is under anaesthesia. She might wake up tomorrow." The doctor said.

Nancy heaved a sigh of relief and said sincerely, "Thank you, Doctor."

------

Richard drove to the hospital and found Miranda squatting near the hospital gate. Her helpless and pitiful disposition made her look like an abandoned child.

"What are you doing here?" Richard asked in an annoying tone.

"Nancy was still unconscious but her mother was with her" Miranda replied.

"What are even answering?" Richard removed his coat and put it over her shoulders.

"I just sprained my ankle, so I had to sit down. And my legs have gone numb after sitting for such a long time," Miranda replied, faintly. She looked up at Richard with red eyes. It was clear as day that she had been crying.

"Let's get treated." He said.

"I am fine. Let's just go home." She said in a sad tone.

"Okay," He bent down and took her in his arms.

The vehicle finally stopped as they reached their destination.

Richard walked around the vehicle and helped Miranda out. Richard tacitly helped her to get out of the vehicle and supported her until she entered the house.

"Sister! What happened?" George ran out with an exaggerated expression. Emily squinted at George who instantly shut up.

------

As soon as Miranda hung up the call, she hurriedly jumped out of bed and turned to leave the room.

"Where?" Richard asked.

"Hospital. Nancy woke up." Miranda replied. Richard immediately grabbed her wrist as she passed by him.

"Do you know what time is it?" Richard shot Miranda a stern glare.

"Don't worry." Miranda tried to break away from Richard's tight grasp around her wrist. However, she was no match for his strength. His hand cupped her wrist like an iron clamp.

"Who said I'm worried about you?" He snapped. "You can visit her tomorrow morning."

"But I need....."

"Why do you always have to defy me?"

Miranda challenged his patience. He believed that he had married a pushover who would do his bidding. But that didn't seem to be the case. Miranda was extremely stubborn and resolute when it came to her convictions.

"Okay. Let go of me! Why do you always put cold face?" She asked fearlessly.

Richard's face softened as he let go of Miranda's hand.

The next second, he picked up Miranda and placed her on his bed. Next, he pushed himself on top of her and stared at her. Then, he said dangerously, "This little woman! Why don't you have any fear?"

He inched his face closer to mine with a wicked smile playing on his lips. "Are you scared?" He asked.

"No...I am..."

He placed his thin lips upon her tender ones, presenting a strong sense of maleness, occupying her breath.

She wanted to turn away to dodge the scorching kiss of this man, but the moment she parted her mouth a little, the man's tongue reached hers and his hand had already reached into her tops and travelled up her back.
