At the corner of his eyes, something moved swiftly through the ghastly forest. Boruto slightly raised his blade and stood in his tracks.
The guards, along with the old lady were confused, they had no idea of the lingering creature circling all five of them.
The crimson blade of the heated Fate's End cut through air to deflect the sturdy, hideous arm. The Demon had finally made its move.
Unable to perceive its figure, Boruto fought in the darkness using his sharpened senses, his hands trembled from the recoil of the impacts.
Sparks ignited from the collision, and from the tiny source of light, Boruto was able to see its face.
Coated in pure steel, it looked as though the demon was artificially made from some sort of material, but the horrid creature let out deafening screeches, it was a sentinel being no doubt.
With only moments of tiny sparks, Boruto fought for over an hour, fortunately, the creature's intelligence was far from being smart, it did not make one single move against the bystanders.
Clang.
Slipping past Boruto's defenses, the Demon of Sin twisted its body to deliver a fatal punch to his chest. The air from his lungs got knocked out as Fate's End flew from his grip.
Rolling on the ground, Boruto momentarily stopped to catch his breath, however, the demon lunged forward with a battle cry and opened its mouth to rip off his head.
Purely by instinct, Boruto was somehow able to roll and dodge the attack in the nick of time, but he did not come out unscathed.
Blood dripped from his waist, the creature managed to leave a deep gash. Gritting his teeth, Boruto ignored the pain and stood up.
The creature lunged forward again, but the young Uzumaki was ready this time. With calculated efficiency, Boruto sensed its movement to evade and run toward the only source of light. Fate's End, its blazing hot steel still had some life in it.
He felt his wound open more, feeling dizzy, Boruto somehow held onto his consciousness. Swiftly running past his blade, he scooped up his sword by the hilt and turned behind just in time to meet the creature sprinting at him.
But the haziness got the better of him, feeling lightheaded, Boruto missed his mark by an inch and was only able to bruise the Demon's steel skin.
Bang!
Receiving a kick to his abdomen, Boruto was sent flying and crashed onto a nearby tree. Coughing a mouthful of blood, he quickly jumped sideways to avoid a body crashing toward him.
Using the edge of Fate's End to impale the ground, Boruto stopped himself from crashing into another tree and raised his blade.
Collecting his thoughts, he quickly calmed himself, stabilizing his breathing, Boruto closed his wounds to a degree for him to not die of blood loss.
Adrenaline rushed through his veins, the thrill of the battle clouded his mind. With a sinister smile, Boruto stood up and rushed forward without any indication of defending himself.
'Yes! This is it! This is what I want!!'
He swung his blade purely by instinct, abandoning all reason to an all-out attack. Mercilessly assaulting the demon with never-ending slashes, Boruto drove the demon backward.
The Demon staggered from the powerful attacks, Boruto jumped, spun in the air, and delivered a swift and precise spinning hook kick to the Demon's face to send it flying.
Not giving it a chance to guard itself, Boruto sprinted and approached the creature.
Stomping his feet on the ground, Boruto lunged forward and thrust his blade through the creature's chest, the vile being let out a thundering cry before falling deaf on the ground, lifeless.
Catching his breath, Boruto felt a wash of power reign over him as the Chakra in his abdomen showered him with power.
The first rays of moonlight lit up the path, however, heavy and rigid breath left his lips.
He felt like his muscles were burning, and his joints felt weak and dislocated. Warmth flooded where his wound had opened severely.
Gnashing his teeth, he endured the pain that slowly kicked in after the rush of adrenaline hit rock bottom. Pulling out a scroll, he took out his emergency kit and sat down under a tree.
Taking off his jacket and the T-shirt underneath, Boruto was now able to fully scan his wound. It was horrible, his flesh was visible, and blood showered like a fountain.
With trembling pale hands, Boruto took out a needle and thread from the kit to stitch up his wound.
"Argh!"
The pain was almost numbing his mind, with heavy breaths, he was able to stitch up his wound. His hands were soaked in blood, the guards and the others were too shocked to act.
Boruto staggeringly stood up. Using his blade as a cane to support his weight, he lit up Fate's End to adorn the path with its blazing fire.
He scanned his surroundings for the corpse, unfortunately, it was nowhere to be found.
'Weird... I'm sure it was there a moment ago'
exhausted to care about the dead vile creature, Boruto lingered for a moment before continuing his escort mission, the people behind him didn't dare to utter a word in the silence.
After a while, they exited from the vast forest and were meters away from the designated location, after escorting them successfully, Boruto claimed his payment and went back to Konoha.
On his way, he recalled the information given by one of the villagers when he investigated about the 'Devil' stuff people called the high lady.
'Forgotten legend... What a bunch of nonsense. Anyway, I didn't expect to see a Demon worshipper in this era... I should probably deal with her in the future, just to make sure'
In the endless silence of the long journey to Konoha, his regenerative abilities from being an Uzumaki started their work. Sighing, he slowly walked forward using his 'cane'.
The cold wind of the polar night crashed against him, the ghastly light of the burning Aurora in the starless sky gave off a calm and peaceful feeling.
After hours of traveling, the silhouette of the tall buildings in Konoba stood tall. Soon after, Boruto entered through the main gate, confirming his identity to the guards. He was planning to set out toward the Hokage building to inform of the contents of the mission, but decided against it.
'I should probably take some rest'
Heading towards his home using the dark alleys of the village, he reached his designated location. Dismissing Fate's End, Boruto climbed to his room and crashed into his bed.
Almost instantly, he fell asleep. The exhaustion from the excessive loss of blood already caught up to him.
