۞ IV ۞

SHE JUMPED OFF HER SEAT, "AMAZING. PILE THE FOOD ON the left and the bottles on the right." It's my stronger arm.

But before he could go inside the back of his bakery, Donna handed him the magical spatial bag with the money, "You're the best costumer I'll ever have, Donna!" With a grin, he took the bag and ran inside to put it all in his vault, then he came back and handed it to her empty. So, he went inside again, but to get all she paid for this time.

Slowly, he filled all the countertop, piling the trays one above the other, liquids in one side and food in the other. And when he was almost done, a child Donna knew, knocked on the door and she went to open it, showing Lewis, the 17-year-old boy she's been feeding since she was 14, who had awakened his telekinesis two years ago. "Hi, Lewis, are you fine, kid?"

He nodded, blushing. He always blushed when he was close to her, and she suspected he had a crush on her, which was sweet, "Donna, I've been training my telekinesis as you told me to!"

"Oh? That's amazing, Lewis!"

"I-I… I c-can control it at my will now."

Gods', he's tall, isn't he? He was near my shoulders a day ago and now he's five to six inches taller than me. I can't be short like this. "That's good to know. But are you alright? Are the kids fine?" She asked worried, he was the leader of the kids in the big orphanage she was helping. "Did anyone tried to mess with you? I can deal with them, just tell me their name."

Ah, I'm going to miss her so much, "No. No one messed with us. I… I came here to help you. I can use my magic to carry half of the stuff you bring to us alone. I-I-I… I know you can carry it all by yourself, because you are very strong. The strongest person I know," he gulped, turning redder than before. "B-but I really want to help you out while I still can. T-t-that's why I trained."

He's so darn cute. "Okay. I'll accept your help," she turned him around and held his arms, feeling his muscles which, he was working to build on these last years. "You grew stronger, Lewis, that's good. You will be able to take care of everything when I'm not here anymore."

Oh, my Gods. Oh, my sweet Gods. Donna touched me. Oh my... my Gods. She touched my arms and praised my strength. S-she praised me. "I will. I'm strong!"

She giggled, "Yes, you are! So, I'll let you carry the liquids and I'll carry the food, okay?"

"What's heavier? I'll carry the heaviest!"

Adorable, ugh. "The liquids are heavier," she winked at him, and his heart almost stopped. "Let me just," she turned back to the balcony and divided the two tall piles and two each.

"Who's the kid?" Karl asked as he brought the last tray of cakes. "Is he one of the kids you help?"

Donna nodded, "Lewis. He came to help me out," she smiled, "he said he's been training his telekinesis to help me out on bringing everything. Isn't he adorable?"

Karl nodded with a smile on, "He's tall. A lot taller than you, Donna. How old are you, kid? 19? Maybe 20?" These kids are the ones who will miss her the most, that is for sure. No one ever helped them as much as Donna does and if they hadn't realized that yet, they will in a week after the child is gone.

"I turned 17 two moons ago, sir. Thank you for the compliment, I appreciate it a lot. I was lucky to be heard by the Gods when I prayed to grow taller than Donna. They heard me, so I'm thankful for that," he bowed gently and shyly came near the balcony. "Your food is amazing, sir. Donna has been giving it to us since I was 10."

The baker nodded proudly, "She made sure to only give you the best. Believe me, Donna is quite picky with food, as she has a sensible appetite. When she was 14, she made sure to taste all the food from all the three bakeries in the village before settling on the best. Thankfully for me, it was mine."

She's amazing. And so beautiful it hurts. He thought with his heart fluttering at the sight of her.

"The same order tomorrow night, Karl," she said as she held both piles in both arms at the same time, thankful for having super strength so she could do it effortlessly. "Same amount. I'll be here on the same hour as always!"

Nodding, he went and opened the two tall doors for her, and as she went to the sidewalk, she turned to him and to Lewis, to make sure the kid wasn't having any problem on helping her out. Wow, he really learned how to control it, very helpful. If his telekinesis keeps growing, he'll be able to protect all the kids in the orphanage. He's an adult now, so, it'll be good.

"Good?" She asked him and he nodded smiling. "So, until later, Karl. Say my thanks to Miss Iris. And good luck with the triplets!"

"Have a good night, Donna. See you later when you come to bring the trays to me. Be careful!"

"I'm always!" She winked.

"You are always reckless, kid," he mocked.

"That too," she grinned and left him with Lewis right behind her. They said nothing until they turned on the street with everyone giving her sad eyes as she passed with him.

Lewis clicked his tongue, "Do they always stared at you like this, Donna?" He asked annoyed.

And she found his annoyance adorable, "Yeah, but don't give much thought to it, Lewis. I get their wariness. It's just getting even more obvious now that I only have one week left."

The boy tensed up, trying not to think about that, "I'm scared for you, Donna," he whispered.

"I'm scared for myself too, Lewis. But it's okay. I won't go down without a good fight. And you've seen me fighting, haven't you? You know I'm good at it!"

He bit his lip, "You are the best at it. But he's the Devil. You think you can kill it like you killed the nuisances who tried to harm us?"

No. But fighting will help with my pride. "Kill it? I don't think the Devil can be killed, Lewis. So, I won't fight it with kill intent because I feel it in my bones that it would be useless. However, my pride would be hurt if I let it take me away easily and willingly like a weak prey in front of an intimidating predator."

"Donna?"

"Yes?" She side-eyed him.

"We've been keeping something from you!"

She blinked, "What is it?"

"Six people of different ages were taken by the Devil on the last nine months in the outskirts," his voice was a whisper, but they sounded loud in her sensible ears.

What the fuck? She tried to steady her heartbeat that had skyrocketed in the spam of a second, "Explain that to me, Lewis. In. Detail." Donna said through clenched teeth.

The boy gulped, not used to seeing her angry, "The first one was nine months ago, on 1st of March, she was 17, her name was Leesha. Tiana was next, on the 2nd of April, and she was 23. Then he took Vivian, she 14 years old, on 3rd of June. John was the fourth, he was 18, it happened on the 6th of August. On September 9th, the Devil took Miriam, she was 26. The last to be taken was Bruno, 20 years old, on the 13th of November, almost a month ago. All at night."

Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck! Why did he do it? It doesn't make sense. Fuck. And to fuck he came that close of me, and I had no fucking idea. Donna freaked out mentally, as a shiver spread down her entire body. Fear.
