Ranking system

Feeling tipsy from the 'questions and answers' session with a bunch of people at the cafeteria, I walked into my dorm which was pretty spaced out. There was a medium sized bed at the four corners of the room, each accompanied with a small bookshelf and a wardrobe by the side, and a round table which was at the center of the room with a flower vase on it.

It was a 'four in one' room style, so I was meant to have three roommates, and I could see miscellaneous items on three sides of the room except for the one on my far left.

My roommates were probably out having fun, so I strolled over to my side of room which was on the far left and sat down on my bed while caressing it with my hands.

Back at the cafeteria, I later got to learn that everyone in the 'underworld' has a rank ranging from F - A, and that everyone gets to be promoted with their accumulated points. As an F ranker, I'll have to accumulate 1000 mission point (MP), to get promoted to the E rank.

The girl i met earlier 'E56' has long been promoted from F rank and is now an E rank, which means my only chance of seeing her will be at the cafeteria for F - E rankers.

Not like I'm craving to see her...

There were three cafeterias in three different floors, with each floor belonging to two corresponding rank, F-E, D-C and B-A. I was currently in the F-E floor and can only be promoted when i start to accumulate MP.

'I believe I'll be able to catch up to 'E56' if I became serious in accumulating MP because with each rank, the MP is doubled, which means that 'E56' will be needing 2000MP before she could get promoted again, while I'll needing just 1000MP.

But what made it hard to accumulate MP is that you'll have to go on missions assigned to you by the superior's of this place, and those missions requires you to outside the 'underworld'.

Many people who went on missions never returned, and if you were given a mission... You had no right to reject, else...

There were classes from Monday's to Thursday's. Friday's were for training, Saturday's were free days and Sunday's for the religious people.

Classes were held according to rankings, you can't be promoted even if you were a genius except you accumulate enough MP to get you into the next rank.

That was alot to process for the day and I was starting to feel dizzy. There were two other doors in my room, one on the left and the other on the right. The doors led to a combined toilet and bathroom. The one on the left, belonged to those who had their bed on the left and vice versa.

I walked into the door and on my side of the room and stood in front of the mirror above the sink, staring at the reflection of a blond haired boy, who had brown eyes with a small pointed nose and thin lips, accentuated with a 'pretty boy' facial features.

I grunted at myself while stripping to have a cold water shower. After spending time in the shower, I came out with a towel wrapped around my waist and walked over to my wardrobe which was filled casual clothes and underwear.

After putting on only shorts leaving my top body bare, I fell on the bed and picked up the small manual laying on my bed. I took a quick flip and found out I already learnt majority of it's content from the cafeteria except the rules and regulations and the F-E floor map.

I decided to read the rules and regulations to pass time and... Five minutes later I was snoring loudly.

*Bang*

I quickly jolted from sleep and looked towards the door, and at the door was a bald boy who was staggering into the room with his eyes halfway closed.

Yeah... He's drunk.

"What's with kicking the door? You could've just squeezed the door knob" I complained with a frown.

"He's dead... Mike is dead" I suddenly felt fear grip my heart. "Who's Mike!?... Is he our roommate!?" I asked, not expecting much from the drunk dude.

The bald guy nodded before he fell face first and passed out. I quickly stood up and dragged him to the nearest bed before closing door. I stared at the passed out bald guy again while pondering over what he said.

"Would I die this way someday? Just because of some stupid mission?" I muttered to myself.

But I knew that without those missions... here wouldn't have been this advanced, because those missions include scavenging for raw materials, food, water source, and daily necessities.

It's the product of those missions that keeps People happy here. Clearing out the perimeter of the 'safe base' reduces the risk of getting breached by the 'unknown'.

I took in a deep breath and said "I Josh!.. will never let myself die on a mission, I will always fight to live... to see the next sunrise!".
