Invasion Time

Why Max?

What made Gold, the man who recently hanged him by the neck, to think he was going to do what he wanted!

Wasn't it obvious to Gold that no matter the convincing words used on the Vampire Slave, his request would remain neglected?

Was Max's fate that bad that he was meaninglessly getting stuck in between two terrible terrors!

Even his inner self questioned him the same questions but the answers were nowhere to be found;

Evelyn was all he wanted but then, he met Robert, Gold and now he was stuck with a woman who had no arms to be found;

Evelyn herself, the aim for why he was here, as pathetic as it sounds, was also nowhere to be found;

Who knows whom he was going to find on his quest to find the human girl, what were the bothering obstacles awaiting to find him, and if where he believed he was to find the girl was not the actual place for her to be found.

"... and you can say whatever you want in return from Gold." The woman's soft, demeaning voice brought Max out of his thoughts enamour. The way he glared at her could have scared anyone who wasn't a murderer.

There was a moment of tensing silence that the woman sharply broke: "Only if you have accepted to reach the message to his ears." The charming smirk on her lips smirked some meaningful smirk at Max.

'What if I say no? Doesn't that mean my forsaken fate would take me into a much more unpredictable situation that might offer me no reward at all?'

Max's brown eyes looking at the dark skinned woman, the only thing he said was: "What's mah gain?" Everett's heir was into the deal.

'I don't believe it is whatever I want in return.'

"Yes, I think I said it." She smiled gently.

His eyes slightly squinted, Max processed his thoughts faster than the speed of lightning. His mind drowned away from reality, telling him what he wanted the most at the moment, calling her name repeatedly:

'Evelyn.'

'...Evelyn...'

'...Evelyn...'

.

.

.

He got out of his world of thoughts and looked into the eyes of the woman. "Am only doing what the fucker wants if he must assist me with protection." He took two steps closer and looked straight into her eyes with more intensity, telling her that his words were not joking jokes. "Protection until I reach a certain red dot safe and alive." His eyes flashed red.

Without responding, the woman mind-linked the Werewolf standing there outside the garden-like environment:

«Bring me the map.»

The silence dominating the space between her and Max was calm in some way as if the two of them just were about to begin a war, watching their approaching foolish enemies with warnings.

As the silence remained unfazed, a short while later, the frowning giant Foot Soldier walked in with the map Penelope gave Max.

He stood left beside the beauty, rolling out the map silently. And it had a red glowing dot that was magically indicating the location of Evelyn.

"You mean this dot?" questioned the woman in a soft tone, as softly as she looked at the spread map.

'How did she get my map?'

.

.

'Gold did. Yeah. She have no hands, after all.'

"Yah it is." Max nodded.

And she smiled at the response. "The deal is hammered."

★★★

Having the unsettling deal settled between the two parties, the next thing to do in line was getting well prepared for the journey to the red dot as it happened to indicate Evelyn was in the Royal Castle — There would be battle.

Seriously, there would be blood spillage; lots and lots and lots of blood spillage.

Thinking about it, either way of the deal leads Max to Lucas. If he should successfully find Evelyn without meeting him, which sounds very, very impossible, he would meet him in order to pass on Gold's message directly. He might tell Lucas the message if he should intrude his mind but no one would believe him even if he does so.

The deal said the message should reach Lucas' ears, not his mind. The difference between the two is clear; a fact telling Max that meeting Lucas, sooner or soonest, was just a must. Gold could have sent one of his Foot Soldiers or maybe any fearless Tyro but instead, he chose Max.

'Very nice choice, huh, very proper choice.'

The Vampire Slave was still in his disguised appearance. Taken by a wicked Tyro to a public shower of the cleaners, of all people, he had to follow the line before taking a bath in one of the most disgusting bathrooms he had ever seen in his life. In a nutshell, it was the fastest shower he had ever had, probably not upto a minute shower.

Then came a moment of dressing up for the journey together with some silent strangers.

He looked different after taking the shower. So unfortunate to mention, there were no towels, hair creams, body deodorants or even a simple perfume for him to use.

The dress Max had to wear made him look like a ninja with a black vest underneath, as the woman mentioned, which was something called Powerspense. Basically, a useless armor vest if he was to know its real purpose and against which enemy it should be used.

So why was he given a Powerspense? It makes no sense.

'Very caring, huh, very gentle of them.'

With a moody expression, looking at the silent strangers silently sitting on a bench one beside the other like some five bottles of champagne, "Who're those, woman? And why ya're here?" Max directly asked the armless woman.

'I thought my business with her was over but she's as clingy as a heated dried ice cream.'

"Call me Armless." gently stated the beauty, also sitting on a bench of her own. Now that he was not under great tension, Max could see the details of her beauty:

She had brown lips and her black hair seemed cute being styled into four cornrows that ended in two low buns; absolutely not the way Chloe used to do her hair.

In details, Armless had braids been accessorized with mini gold cuffs which radiated in blent with the stylish trims of gold spreading around her silky, black body hugging outfit; absolutely defining she was Gold's belonging.

Being in a bright place, Max unconsciously acknowledged that her chocolate skin color was definitely something to be jealous of; absolutely one of the factors making her exceptionally beautiful.

What was confusing was that every female Max had seen so far in Royalty Pack were covering every skin of their body in absolute black, except the parts of the body that necessarily needed to be exposed. It seemed like their culture here. And for sure, every Werewolf shifter he had met starting from Robert, Gold to Armless were all dark skinned.

'Not a coincidence, not at all.'

Responding to Max's questions, "They are assassins but will now help you as spies, in addition to functioning as Foot Soldiers." calmly said Armless and paused. "I am also an Elected of the lowest class, which means I'm not an assassin, and I'm part of the journey."

'Elected assassins. Who are you trying to freak?'

Max was frozen. "Welcome on board." He smiled away his trance of shock. "Can't they be Earth invasion aliens?" he asked sarcastically with a smirk.

"They are assassins, Maximus, but are called the Electeds. They belong to the toppers of the third rank of the Gold Gang and trust me, your mouth wouldn't like to have any issue with them. Each one of them has assassinated at least more than two hundred outstanding figures."

'Damning joke! Joke joking jokes.'

Max gave the silently sitting five men a long questioning look. Two hundred was no small number. Suddenly, gulping, they appeared dangerous and cold to Max. No wonder that they were as well dressed like ninjas.

'This proves that the Royal Castle is really hard to penetrate. Ah~ Lucas is hard to reach.'

A bordering fact to Max's curiosity was, he couldn't distinguish who was who among the five men, only that they were all male.

'Evelyn is worth it all.'

Averting his gaze back to Armless, "What about that wicked guy who took me to shower, how many people did he kill?" Max adjusted his black, waist length ninja like robe. Done preparing, time to invade the Royal Castle of the Imperial Alpha.

Yeah! let's keep the power stones coming!
